Korean eyebags all the rage now!

Beauty trends keep evolving and some are just really plain strange and weird. Remember the eye bag look I’d blogged about previously where several makeup tutorials have popped up all over the net, teaching you how enhance these “smiley bags” with tools ranging from white eye shadow to double eye lid tape?

photo-23

So I have these very obvious 笑袋 aka Smile bags which I usually photoshop away but sometimes miss out when I’m too busy correcting other flaws on my face. And honestly, I don’t know if I should laugh or cry because these are all the rage now. Yes, puffy under eyes are the latest beauty trend now.

So much so that Koreans (and everyone whose just as crazy as them) are undergoing the knife just to have these fatty lower lids permanently there. Why? Because you look feminine, innocent and girly. A new aesthetic procedure has emerged; known as Korean Love Band Eyes or Youthlites, it is designed to mimic the natural youthful fullness found in the skin just below the lower lashes.

photoYou likey moi eye bags?

In fact, Prive clinic is the first in Singapore in offering a minimally invasive method using dermal fillers if you are keen in getting such a procedure done. Check out Annyeonghaseyo, Aegyo Sal! For the Love of Korean Eyebags for more details.

Any thoughts on this? Would you have them done or if you already have such bags under your eyes, are you proud of them now? Let me know, I’m curious…

Are you a Rilakkuma fan?

Move aside, Hello Kitty fans. It’s the Rilakkuma invasion. This adorable, lazy bear character from Japan has gained fans worldwide that it even have stores dedicated to selling only its merchandise.

Rilakkuma (リラックマ Rirakkuma?, a combination of the Japanese pronunciation of relax and the Japanese word for bear) is a Japanese character designed by Aki Kondo, produced by San-X in 2003.

Here’s my take on the top items every Rilakkuma fan should have.

Rilakkuma apparel:

Every self-respecting Rilakkuma fan must own at least one piece of Rilakkuma apparel. It doesn’t matter if its authentic Sanrio merchandise or not. But you must own a piece before you can truly proclaim yourself as a fan.

Rilakkuma stationery:

To keep you motivated at school or your desk job, it’s highly recommended that you as a Rilakkuma fan keep some stationery of this kawaii relax bear. Besides being irresistibly cute, at least these character merchandise are practical and functional.

Rilakkuma cushion/pillow:

Because a cushion or pillow is much more practical than a plush toy. You can hug it or use as a back support too.

Rilakkuma handphone case:

As you carry your mobile with you all the time, why not add a little eye candy to it with a Rilakkuma handphone casing?

And because you have everything else. A Rilakkuma plush would complete the collection.

Za celebrates 15th Anniversary with a special edition foundation case that is …

Uber kawaii! And that word itself is an understatement. I mean, just look at this casing! It’s soooo freaking cute and pretty that I personally think its the best design they ever had. Well done, Za!

photo 2-1There was a little party held at the Window Sill Pies. Lovely little cafe serving pies, I got to try out the banana-something pie and it was yummilicious! I’ll definitely recommend that you try it if you have the chance to.

photo-47

And the theme was come dress in yellow or pink. But like every party’s gate crashers, we arrived in corporate wear. In fact, we were the only 2 misfits in corporate wear.

photo-45

Yes, I know its so shameful. But never mind, let’s get back to the casing which I’m loving so much.

photo 1-1

This limited edition casing is designed by Naho, a Tokyo-based freelance illustrator who graduated from the renowned Parson school of design in New York. Her works has been featured in Anna Sui, Vogue Italia and Vogue Girl Korea.

The design as you can see shows these pretty ladies with long legs partying away. So what’s the story behind this Za Foundation case design?

photo-48

It’s about the Za girl inviting her pretty friends over for a party to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of Za. There’s a lovely spread of cakes and champagne to go round as they make merry.

Anyway, since this is a limited edition case, I suggest that you better grab it fast before its sold out. With such a lovely, adorable design like this, I won’t be surprised if they sell out fast.

[Review] Elisha Coy Always Nuddy CC Cream

I’m back with yet another product from WISH TREND to share with you. If you love korean beauty products then you must check out this website! WISH TREND is a Korean website which focuses on all stuff beauty, fashionable & entertaining.

photo (3)

I’d received my ELISHA COY ALWAYS NUDDY CC CREAM and was eager to test it.

photo 1 (1)

A little intro about this product first…

Always Nuddy CC Cream blends into your skin layer as its capsule unravels.
Colour encapsulated spheres brings about natural skin tone colour. As the colour capsule inside of the white hydrated base bursts, natural blemish effect can be expected.
Hydrated skin with 20 skin moisture ingredients, even skin tone by great persistency and adherence. As layered over, glowing and hydrated skin tone can be accomplished.

If you are wondering how to get that GLOW and RADIANCE which Kpop stars always spot. Then this is the secret to their beautiful makeup!

kagcxhycdwa1vae21m5h14bi3ewuwal7

I’m very new to this whole concept and this is my first CC Cream. I was surprised that it didn’t come in a skin tone shade. I know some other CC Creams do… Anyway, the Nuddy CC Cream is to be used together with a BB Cream for optimal results.

As shown by this Korean blogger, you can see how there is coverage from the BB cream and then radiance due to the CC cream base that was applied first.

I tried to do some shots like the one above but my cam was too lousy to capture the difference. And hence, I can only do a demo on my inner wrist. The texture of the CC Cream is surprisingly light, kind of like a mousse.

PicCollage

As you can see from my above photo, after applying and spreading the CC Cream evenly. The skin has a pearlish glow to it, I guess this is what they meant by “Colour encapsulated spheres brings about natural skin tone colour”

However, when used alone, it doesn’t provide much coverage. That’s when you need to add on the BB Cream. Then voila! You get perfect complexion that’s flawless and radiant.

If you are thinking of buying this CC Cream or just any other product off their site.

Here’s a voucher code for you!

RFXLSCOZ

( 3 USD voucher / Able to combinate with other voucher)
Expiry date:  the end of 2013
Minimum Amount to Use: over 20 USD order

Helping My Guardian Angel Turn Back the Hands of Time

Mother’s day is just around the corner and I had spent days mulling over the perfect present for my mom. She had been of great help in looking after my cheeky 6 months old baby ever since he was born.

Usually, a typical Mother’s day celebration for us would involve the family having a meal out at some nice restaurant. But that idea was growing stale. So this year, I had wanted to do things differently.

One night, I was watching my mother put my baby to sleep. And then it dawned upon me how the many months of babysitting & late nights had worn her out, causing her to look haggard and tired. My mother is someone who still enjoyed dressing up and looking good. So I was really touched by her sacrifices for her grandson and how it all was started to show on her face.

So I’ve been reading up articles on AestheticsHub.com on non-invasive treatments such as Botulinum Toxin A. And that was when I thought of getting her a unique and special gift to regain her youthfulness; a Botulinum Toxin A session at Prive Clinic.

 DB6G8242

Botulinum Toxin A is an active ingredient found in what most people know as Botox. But this time, Prive Clinic used a different brand called Dysport.

I was really excited about the session and even brought Asher down to accompany Grandma. Upon reaching Prive Clinic, their friendly staff greeted us with smiles and offered us some beverages while we waited for Dr Karen Soh.

Once Dr Soh was free to attend to us, we were ushered into the Consultation room. After checking with my mother on her concerns, Dr Soh suggested getting rid of the frown lines on the forehead, crow lines around the corners of the eyes and below the eye area.

 DB6G8226

She explained the procedure to us and patiently answered all of our queries. Once this was done, a nurse applied numbing cream on the areas of my mother’s face to prepare for treatment.

All it took was just mere 15-20 minutes for the numbing cream to work its magic and then Dr Soh proceeded with the Botulinum Toxin A  injections.

Unlike Botox that is great for precise work around targeted areas such as the eyes to avoid eyelid droopiness, Dysport diffuses more readily and so is more suitable for larger areas such as jaw slimming, calf reduction and forehead.

Though it may appear painful to me, the onlooker but my mother assured me that she felt no pain at all. In fact, with Dr Soh’s expert and deft hands, the whole session lasted for a few minutes only.

That was really quick, it’s no wonder that they label Botulinum Toxin A  jabs as a lunch time treatment. We were informed that the results were not going to be instant and it would take around 3 days to show.

Dysport, just like Botox, lasts for 3 to 6 months, on first treatment.

However, she could go about her normal daily tasks after the treatment. We even went for some dinner and shopping after the session.

This was my mother’s first trip to an aesthetic clinic and her first Botulinum Toxin A  treatment ever. And she has no regrets at all.

So mommy, I’m glad that you liked this special Mother’s day gift. My husband and I spent S$850 for the jaw area and S$400 for the crow feet.

May not be an expensive present but we are proud that we could assist in making her feel more beautiful and radiant than she already is.

Thanks for everything, I love you :)

A day as a HDB Taitai Wannabe

Today was a great, well-spent day where I got to run my errands and best of all, didn’t have to go to work. (OK, so I took leave). Anyway,Mocha had to go to the groomers and so did his mummy.

And where else would I head to but Salon De Choix, conveniently located at Winsland House 1. If you are driving, then you can park at the Orchard Central car park which offers one of the cheapest parking fees in town.

Some camhoring before heading to the salon…

I just had my hair colored a month back and the roots ain’t really showing. So I settled for a head massage & hair treatment today. The head massage included a treatment for sensitive scalp. All these chemical treatments like dyeing my hair have left my scalp rather red, angry-looking and ultra sensitive, so it was time to give it some good old loving. While the hair treatment nourished my tresses so that they were smooth and healthy-looking again.

Check out the products used…

The massage was so pampering, I nearly dozed off. After the massage from the hair oil with rose extract, I had my hair washed. And the massage that followed during the hair wash was so relaxing, I think I did really fall asleep for awhile.

The shampoo used (pictured above) was also specially suited for sensitive scalp. After the wash, I had a solution sprayed onto my scalp to soothe it. This was followed by the hair treatment with the Mythic Oil (as shown above).  Then followed by a 2nd hair wash to rinse off.

PicCollage (1)

Finishing up, I had my hair styled into lovely curls, complete with the sweet-smelling Kerastase Elixir Ultime serum.

Follow Up Post to Etude House AC Clinic Line

I had blogged about the Etude House AC Clinic Line recently and on how I couldn’t try it out yet as I didn’t have any zits? Well, the moment you say such things, these irritating, annoying zits just pop out of nowhere. Read my previous entry HERE!

photo 3Well, hello nasty zits, I really hate you.

So I’m trying out the AC Clinic Line’s Intense Pink Powder Spot. It’s a spot care solution that contains 4 non-comedogenic ingredients such as natural Salicylic Acid, Hinoki Cypress, Chaga mushroom and Saururus Chinensis.

photo 2

It dries up pretty fast after application and I went to bed looking like a polka dot pig.

photo 1

The zits didn’t magically disappear the following morning and I admit that I was slightly disappointed. But it took around 2 days so to be honest, that’s still not too bad for an anti-pimple solution.

Then the other day I had a pop-up zit that was pretty reddish and angry-looking. It managed to calm it down the next day but it was still 3D and not flatted. However, the swelling did go down on the 2nd day. So overall, this is not bad for a pimple zapper ;)

Wanna be beautiful like a hot Kpop star?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the adage goes. But in Gangnam, beauty is in the hands of her plastic surgeons and with a setting amidst upmarket shopping areas, flashing billboards images of women plastic surgery of before and after, it’s never more apt as it’s about style.

According to Korean mythology, Hwanung transformed a bear into a woman and made her his wife. A child by the name of Dangun was born out of this union and later became the founder of Gojosen, Korea’s first kingdom.

Legends and Mythologies have always enthralled and captured the imagination. Tales of the beautiful and the bold from Cleopatra to Helen of Troy have inspired the quest for the elixir of life and the fountain of youth via traditional or modern medicine means.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons performed more treatments per person in South Korea than in any other country, making Korea arguably the kingdom of plastic surgery.

One in five of South Korean women readily admit to have gone under the knife and in Seoul itself, 20 percent of women between the ages of 19 and 49 have had plastic surgery done.

Whatever the reasons and the driving factor behind this pursuit of enhanced beauty may be subjective but one thing’s for sure, it’s boosting the nation’s economy and image on the global front.

Korea’s Gangnam District has been compared to cities like Beverly Hills, California. Known for its heavy concentration of wealth and high standard living, the affluent southern district is also the hub for medical tourism with surging increase in the number of yearly visitors.

As part of the engine for Korea’s economic growth, Gangnam District was given an award by the Ministry of Health and Welfare for its excellence in medical tourism is set to propel itself as the aesthetics centre in Asia and possibly beyond.

The crew of Aesthetics Hub will be in the motherland of plastic surgery to video document and bring you the scoops of why, how, what and where of plastic surgery and aesthetics procedures.

As Korean music superstar PSY would say, “Oppa Gangnam Style!”

Happy Labour Day! Check out May’s Vanity Trove

It’s the 1st of May! Happy Labour Day, folks. And in conjunction with this lovely Public holiday, I’m excited to share with you what’s inside the May’s edition of Vanity Trove. This is my 2nd box so far and I’m really happy with this month’s loot.

photo (3)What caught my eye the most was this cute little sheet mask.. OMG…

photo (5)

It’s a beauty facial sheet mask that could be left overnight. It’s a first for me I think… I’ve not tried any leave-on sheet masks before. Anyway, there’s this sticker on the back promoting a boutique spa called GO60 which offers 1 transparent flat fee for all services and products*. Isn’t that interesting?

I’m glad I got to learn about this new place through this month’s Vanity Trove box. The spa won’t be opened till June. Oh well, I might go check it out and yes, I’ll be trying out the mask once I’m done blogging tonight.

photo 2

I’m elated to also spot the Aqua Rine Bath Salts which I absolutely adore. These bath salt scrubs are not only reasonably-priced but also super indulging. Included in this month’s box are the Peach & Rose scented ones. Lovely!

photo 3

Another interesting product worth a mention would be the SebaMed Feminine Intimate Wash. I really just can’t emphasize how much but personal hygiene down south is sooooo important. And making sure you get the right wash is just as vital, because we don’t want something too harsh to upset the natural pH balance down over  at that sensitive area. But I’m sure SebaMed is a trusted brand name when it comes to dealing with sensitivity.

photo 1

Last but not least, I’m totally digging the Bach original flower remedies RESCUE pastilles in Blackcurrent (my fav flavor for lozenges). This could not be any more timely because my throat was starting to act up and itch. So seriously, these are a life savers for me. And I’ve never heard or seen this brand around before too.

Which makes me glad to know that I have Vanity Trove to bring me these items and brand names which I would have otherwise missed out on.

Envious? Want to own a Vanity Trove too? Check out www.VanityTrove.com for more details. For S$25 a month, you’ll get to receive the troves hand-delivered to you and enjoy the beautiful surprises within it. :)

[Review] New ASIENCE Leave-On Hair Treatment range

Oh look what we have here… It’s the new ASIENCE Leave-On Hair Treatment range.

“Stepping out of house with the perfect hair, only to find your confidence waning by mid-day? With Singapore’s humid weather creating undesirable frizz and flyaway, having silky-smooth hair would seem almost unattainable. Achieving beautiful hair that lasts all day is just a step away with the New ASIENCE Leave-On Hair Treatment range.

Containing ASIENCE’s exclusive Beauty Essences (Lotus Flower, Camellia Oil, Pearl and Shell Ginger Leaf), the range provides intensive repair and moisturises hair from within. Enhanced with a hair ‘veiling’ ingredient,ASIENCE’s advanced Moisture-Lock Complex retains moisture to give long-lasting smoothness and manageability, so you can flaunt those silky tresses at any moment, everyday!”

Now, I’m excited to try out the leave-on hair treatment for myself :D

photo 1

So there are 3 types available as different hair types require different treatments.

ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment Water: For Tangled and Untamed Hair – Light as water, it instantly repairs and retains moisture without weighing your hair down

ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment Milk: For dry and frizzy hair – Nourishing yet non-greasy, it instantly repairs and retains moisture to keep hair beautifully soft and healthy

ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment Oil: For Severely Dry and Damaged Hair – Concentrated yet non-oily, it intensively repairs and retains moisture to keep hair glossy and healthy

Judging from the above list, my hair type belongs to the tangled and untamed kind so the ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment Water is most suitable for me. Having it a spray bottle makes it really convenient to use.

You can use this on towel-dry or damp hair, simply just spray a few times while making sure that it’s evenly spread out before combing through. I’m amazed at how hassle-free and easy this is. I would most probably be keeping a bottle of it in my car so that I can look neat and presentable before my appointments.

ascience

As you can see in the BEFORE photo, I’m quite a victim of frizzy, tangled hair with all the flyaways. But after using the ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment Water, my hair is so much neater and manageable. Now I can say goodbye to cursed flyaway hair!

With a texture and consistency that’s like water, I don’t need to worry about any oily sheen or if hair that would look unnatural and stiff. So this one is definitely a keeper :)

ASIENCE Leave-On Treatment range retails at S$14.90 and is available at selected hypermarkets, supermarkets and pharmacies.
