How I Minimised My Enlarged Pores

Acne was my biggest nightmare during my secondary school days. On some days when I woke up, I just do not feel like going to the school because of my bad acne (especially when I have them on my nose or above my lips). I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed about my skin condition.

Back then, I avoided joining my friends for photos. I also have trouble in making eye contact with others and tried my best to avoid all social situations. If you ever felt the same way, you are definitely not alone.
Now as I grew older, the acne may be gone but it left lots of scars and enlarged pores on my face. Sometimes, when people comment about my “mo-peng” (Hokkien dialect for having a pockmarked face) face, I will feel sad.
I have tried many products to treat them but none of them are effective in shrinking those enlarged pores. I even resorted in putting those bb cream on my face to make my skin look smoother but I realised that it is not a long-term solution for me.
One day, I was introduced to Laser skin rejuvenation treatment at Astique. The Aesthetic Clinic to treat my enlarged pores issues.

What is Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment?

Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatment is a non-invasive treatment that uses light energy to gently stimulate natural collagen growth, reduce pore size, remove irregular pigmentation, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
The treatment stimulates collagen production in our skin, and that helps to even our skin tone and a decrease in our pore size. Those with acne scarring will also notice a marked improvement. The laser can be used to rejuvenate many areas on the body, including the face, hands, neck, and chest.
As new collagen is generated, lines and wrinkles are decreased. Additionally, as the laser light penetrates age spots and other pigmentation, these areas are broken apart and absorbed into the skin. Patients reports and studies have also confirmed that laser skin rejuvenation results in a refreshed appearance and smoother skin.
The Tribeam laser used for skin rejuvenation is one of the safest lasers on the market today, and the procedure has very little risk of complications. Patients of all skin types can be safely treated – including those with tanned skin.

How is the procedure like?

The invisible laser beam was directed at my face, heating up the deeper layers of the dermis to stimulate collagen production. There was a tingling sensation during the whole treatment with no discomfort, and the treatment was great for my busy lifestyle since there was no downtime.

How long did the treatment take?

One session usually takes approximately 45 minutes as there are other treatments involved along with Tribeam laser, such as Cool touch, Shaplight and microderm/ chemical peel, depending on the individual skin type. Some patients will experience mild to moderate redness on your face but don't worry as it is normal. The redness usually fades within an hour after the treatment. For the ladies, you can put on your makeup immediately and resume your daily activities. It isn't an issue for me since I don't use any makeup, and I could still go on with my everyday activities.

How do I feel about the treatment?

I only experienced minimal discomfort and the treatment is very safe. Dr. Ng Hong Yi is very professional and experienced and I felt that I was in good hands.

Doctor advised me to stay away from the sun for 1 to 2 weeks after my laser treatment and it is a must to apply sunblock daily.

Waiting for my treatment
Treatment started and that was the machine Dr Ng used on my face.
After treatment, my skin is slightly red but it is not painful at all.
This was taken on the same day 10 minutes after the treatment.
My skin is looking good and I feel so much more confident now. I will definitely visit the clinic again for another session to achieve better results.
