The Coach surprised (and most indefinitely impressed) us with the Legacy collection, the modern twist of Coach's timeless and classic styles. Maintaining the signature heritage of craftsmanship and design, Legacy is a burst of refreshing colours and updated iconic silhouettes.
Gone are the plastering of Coach's monogram on their bags and purses. Coach was founded in 1941. This brand that originated from New York City has upped its game this season with new designs, splash of bold colours and well-crafted details. Not limited to handbags and purses, Coach, this season, has added outerwear, gadget cases, small leather goods and footwear to the line.
The Legacy collection has a tassel and heritage hardware such as iconic turnlock details that work as a unifying motif for the Legacy. Every single Coach bag bears the lozenge hangtag, swinging from an equally iconic ballchain. This season, that evergreen signature has taken that luxurious sense of movement to a new level with its raw-cut and contrasting edge dye.
This union of artisanal craftsmanship and a refined sense of fun is further defined in the heritage Coach hardware of harness buckles, oversize metal zippers, grommets, turnlocks and dog leash clips.
With primary bold colours of sunshine yellows, royal blues, complete greens and rich reds, colour block and colour tipping remain as the core design (drawing upon vintage inspiration) on the heritage leathers which include two glove-tanned revivals, tubular handles, leather-bound edges and contoured strap anchors.
Legacy handbags and their matching accessories are crafted in two different glove-tanned leathers, both inspired by our storied Glove-tanned Cowhide, each one selected for the way it took particular colors in this vibrant collection. Legacy handbags are also rendered in pebbled leather with a prominent grain, haircalf with glove-tanned leather trims, and graphic ocelot- printed fabric, tipped with primary-colored leather.
The archival Coach New York branding from the 1960s is enlivened in foil. The collection includes special reissues of Bonnie Cashin designs and fabrics, the latter meticulously woven from archival swatches by Clarenson, the revered French mill. It also includes the Legacy Archive Collection, featuring Cashin’s iconic 1968 Bucket Bag and kisslock, as well as the Legacy American Icons Collection - true American “working bags” like the Large Tote, inspired by editors’ bags.
Some of the silhouettes were inspired by the classic styles in the Coach archives, each reinterpreted with a modern sensibility. Coach will be opening of their largest flagship store on Orchard Road in the newly renovated Wisma Atria shopping center. Check out the Legacy Collection at their virgin flagship store in Singapore.
