There is another reason why Brazilians are sexy. Havaianas. With buttery-soft soles and extremely comfortable straps that don't bite into your skin, Havaianas remain the favorite flip flop worldwide, even after half a century later. It is, after all, made out of a single factory in Brazil with a secret rubber recipe.
50 years since its humble beginnings in Brazil as a basic footwear necessity in 1962, Havaianas has evolved to become a vibrant global lifestyle phenomenon and ‘fashion must-have’.
Havaianas launched the inaugural ‘Make Your Own Havaianas’ (MYOH) customisation event for Singapore Havaianistas on 14 and 15 July 2012. We were invited to play designer and customize our own footwear. Neon, primary and strong colored soles to quirky decorative pins, MYOH experience is fast, fun and easy!
Here is my summarized MYOH experience on how easy it was to personalize a pair!
The MYOH is a manifestation of innovation by Havaianas, which has been at the core of the brand since it was created in the 1960s. Inspired by the rice-straw Japanese sandal (Zori), Havaianas has retained the “rice grain” pattern and secret rubber recipe on its sole, while listening to consumers and releasing thousands of styles, prints and colour combinations befitting all occasions, and collaborating with fashion designers at the forefront such as Missoni. Today, Havaianas continues to infuse its brand with innovative ideas as it embraces consumer lifestyle and introduces refreshing and engaging activities like the MYOH event.
