This collection seeks inspiration from the late British designer, David Hicks, who is best known for his geometrical designs and his ability to weave modernity into the history of decoration.

Tila March’s designer, Tamara Taichman, is set to astound you with her own interpretation of David Hicks’ artistic expression. David Hicks was a British interior designer and multi-talented artist, who designed wallpaper, rugs and textiles, gaining iconic status during the 1960s and 1970s.
“It’s a period that has always touched and inspired me. It was a time of great freedom,” explains the fashion designer, who is passionate about the interior design and decoration of her stores. After time spent in London immersing herself in David Hicks’ scrapbooks, which form a magnificent set of archives, she came away marked by “his geometrical designs and his ability to weave modernity into the history of decoration.”
Five models in the ZELIG range and four models in the AVA range – tote bags, clutch bags, camera bags, iPad holders, wallets and flat tote bags, shoulder bags and small clutch bags – use three emblematic patterns from the decorator’s legacy. Tamara Taichman has cleverly reinterpreted Hicks’ approach, changing the proportions and using them in new colour schemes. They almost chant and vibrate optically, deploying patterns with an ethnic flavour and fabrics trimmed with gloss or leather. They use contemporary urban codes, creating their own optimistic pop palette.
The Tila March + David Hicks resort collection, set to be launched in the period of June to August 2012, will be available selectively in only one sales outlet per country. Colette (Paris), Barneys (New York), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong), Net-a-porter.com and the Tila March boutique in Singapore will house the exclusive collection.
