Paris Hilton once said," The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in." And that doesn't mean you can't stand out too if you ain't Miss Hilton. We are not asking you to wear your grandmother's 60's outfit or dress like a clown. Contrary to that, we are asking you to be yourself. Wear garments that fit your body structure, that makes you feel good about, and most importantly, shouts YOU.

“What we do have in London is a fantastic pool of talent coming through the colleges. We are the fashion world's incubator," said the late amazing designer, Alexander McQueen. So what do we have in Singapore? Are our talents reflecting and presenting their forte and calibre well enough? Or are we still in the zone of what is in our head is better than what is on our body?

I say, it works both ways because outlook representation is very important, especially in the working world. So dress up and look your part. Don't be judged by how you look at work. It will inevitably surpress your calibre and talent from shining brightly.

As Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.” What you wear everyday speaks a lot about your personality, be it a pair of shorts or a fancy dress. The amount of effort you put in before you leave that door shows just how much you care about presenting yourself to others. Always remember to dress up for yourself before dressing up for others. Find out what works for you.

And if you don't already know, let us tell you what works and what doesn't today.

"Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn," as Gore Vidal, the famous novelist once said many years ago. What you wear says a whole lot about the person you are. But with a society filled with scrutiny and criticism, style is no longer just about what you think alone, but about 3 million others, or at least the ones who bother. So are you really sure you don't give two hoots before you walk out that door?

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. Coco Chanel said it right and accurate even if it was said 50 years ago.

Fashion is a multi-billion industry that delves into details so scrutinisingly that it is almost like doing a major operation on a big piece of cloth. For it is deemed as something important - the difference between fashion and clothes is style and charisma. We went to the street to see who's wearing clothes and who's wearing fashion.
