In the past, mention “corset” and imageries of 15th century torture devices masquerading as slimming garments are conjured up. Today, corsets are fast becoming a hot favourite among women, and not just among the celebrities.
Gone are the days where corsets were so tight fitting that they basically cut off air supply to the body and restrict blood flow. The modern day corset is designed such that it fits comfortable, smoothing the torso and cinching the waist to create a flattering silhouette. Women who are less well-endowed would probably enjoy the fact that the corset also has a bosom-boosting effect!
And if you are worried that the corset would be too risqué for your everyday wear, fret not! For a daytime look, choose a corset in plain or neutral colours and pair it with a jacket and slim cut work pants or a pencil skirt. For a night out on the town, glam it up with a more intricately-designed corset (with glitter, if you dare!), skinny jeans and killer heels.
Whether you’re going for a dressed-up or –down look, the corset injects a dose of much-needed naughty into a wardrobe and is definitely this season’s must-have!
