Plenty I think.. They produced many porn stars... didnt they? LOL.

The world changes, and every country's cultures are changing. But I dont really like it when people overdo it in public places, well, Singapore is ranked the 3rd richest country. That would reflect bad on Singapore.

here is an joke i read long time ago, how come Japanese has surnames like 树下,桥下,石下 under the tree, the bridge, the stone etc...they said before the Jap men went to war , they simply raped any woman they like , so when the women had a child, they could only remember it was under the tree, bridge but didn't know who the father was. Just a funny joke to share. From here, we might tell that the culture of the Japanese is very open since last time.

i don't think this have to do with nationality.

more like a culture difference.

for example, in the western counterparts. I'm pretty sure making out in public is acceptable.

even as singaporeans, I believe each individual have their own preferences in culture.
Some can be super conservative like the older generation, some can be under western culture influences since young .

rather than saying what is acceptable, I would say what is tolerable from our culture.

trust me, the scene here in sg can be as messed up as any other countries just that most are smart enough to keep it under the table.

To put things in perspective, Singapore is a nation in transition.

We are liberalizing but not quite liberal yet. And with liberalizing, there are things that come with it, whether desirable or not.

I think there's room for both sides to improve - couples need to realize that in a public space, certain actions make others uncomfortable and members of the public also need to realize that it is a public space after all, so they must be realize that there are bound to be people who behave in ways which we deem rather unacceptable.

I guess a little kiss and holding your loved one close is not really anything to be ashamed of and nothing that members of the public should get too worked up about.

If there is more and you are uncomfortable, just look away I guess.

This whole STOMP business turns out country into a distrusting nation where everyone is out to snitch on everyone. What's the point? If you really think something is wrong, rather than STOMP it, step up and tell the people firmly.

Stomping is a good way to keep the evidence and show it.

Have you tried stepping up and tell the people firmly before ? I bet many don't have the guts to do so. And i can assure you that you will soon get into a nasty shouting match with the other person who will simply refused to admit their mis-behaviours. Unless your stomach is strong enough to stomach all the heated arguments, throwing to and fro of words in real action, you will rather whip out your hp and start to video the scene of "crimes". A picture is worth a thousand words.
