It’s a familiar problem; you’ve scanned the shoe stores for the perfect sandals to match your new bathing suit, but nothing quite goes. What if you could design your own?

Havaianas and Bloomingdales in NYC are offering customers the chance to do just that.
The store’s windows are being turned into interactive displays that let you design and order a pair of the ubiquitous flip flops.
Here’s how it works. Walk up to the window and tap through the ordering process, as you would on the company’s website. Pick your color sole, straps, and decorations. After you complete the order, you can choose whether you’d like to get your confirmation number via a QR code or SMS.
You have the option of either paying when you make your order, or inside the store. Once inside, head to the kiosk where a sales associate hands you your custom-designed sandals.
Jeff Belizaire, Head of Digital Strategy for Concrete Kreative, the company that created the app for Havaianas, says interactive apps like these “empower consumers to use their creativity to customize their own product.”
It’s not the first time Bloomingdales has tried this. Earlier this year the store offered up interactive sunglasses shops where customers could virtually try on different styles.
The interactive nature of this is sure to attract savvy customers, and the idea of picking and choosing your own colors and designs just might keep them around.
