People naming houses?

One fine day, i got a text from my gf.. it went like

Her: U know, in other countries people give their houses a name.
Her: Shall we name ours?
Me: Ha ha
Me: Uh

So yes now we are going to think of a name for our new place. I welcome suggestions.

Naming aside, yes our new place is coming along really nicely. It’s situated along the leafy stretch of Punggol Waterway and connected to a new semi-expressway to TPE/KPE. Its also surrounded by waters and gardens so we felt it’ll be a great place to start a family. Schools and 24hr food places are also conveniently close. Grocerers too are but few minutes away. I’m really glad we got this plot and not the earlier plot we balloted for.

Buying a house in Singapore is like wow… an investment unlike no other for peasants like me. Still, now that we’ve got over the months of waiting, suspense, admins and $$$…. all thats left is to watch to building of the apartment itself!

Thats how it is now, a field of mud and granite

How it’ll look after our very talented builders are finished with it. (Artist impression, not real)

Hopefully it looks as close to the mockup ha ha…

So yes we are both really excited and even though its still a couple of years away, we’re having fun conceptualising and planning our future home. I am kinda sick of the place Im at now so an apartment that have my hands in its design is very much welcomed!

Now back to thinking of a name for it …

Cirque Du Soleil in Singapore! SALTIMBANCO 2012

In my previous blog posting, I mentioned that “GAMARJOBAT ranks highly in my books, the other being CIRQUE DU SOLEIL’s.

So surprise surprise that CIRQUE DU SOLEIL is coming to Singapore again with performances from July 26 to August 05, 2012 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Pity no Grand Chapiteau this time. Me in all my local kiasu-ness immediately jumped at the thought of reliving Cirque’s magic once again and bought two tickets for the Premier night no less.

I enjoy performances and win me over once and you’ve won me over a lifetime.

I’ve seen several of Cirque’s shows and each evening has turned magical with Cirque Du Soleil’s brand of circus arts and entertainment. Oh I’ve been to very many circuses during my life-time and I dare say Cirque Du Soleil is really THE circus to go for. A spectacle no less with live music and dance, amazingly choreographed artistry and if there is a Circus Couture, then the costumes in Cirque must be it.

If you have not ever caught a Cirque Du Soleil performance, then you must catch Saltimbanco.

Saltimbanco is a Cirque du Soleil signature show inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary, the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope.”

I’ll end of with some videos of my favourite performances from several shows.

Alegria

Ballare Aerial Performance

You can book tickets from SISTIC and I suggest you do it soon.

Have a magical evening!

GAMARJOBAT SURPRISE!

GAMARJOBAT.

You know you just have to get tickets when an international act that your partner really likes comes to town?

So thats what I did, and I did it as some sort of a surprise for her.

Her: “So what we we watching?
Me: “Some random “street performance, might be interesting”
Her: “Okie!”

I was just anticipating her squeals when she finds out its GAMARJOBAT in the flesh! Before I continue..

Gamarjobat (Japanese: が〜まるちょば) are an award-winning comedy performance group comprising two Japanese comedians, Ketch!—who sports a red mohawk—and HIRO-PON—with a yellow mohawk.[1] The duo perform a variety of sketches, including mimes and physical comedy.

Back to my surprise,

Her: “We can’t go in there, I think there’s an event”
Me: “Really?” *Whips out tickets to usher*
Her: *Puzzled*
Her: *Looks at tickets*
Her: *SQUEALS*
Me: Primary objective met, moving on to secondary, getting a good seat!

The famous GAMARJOBAT briefcase!

What followed was an almost two hours non stop hilarity in every GAMARJOBAT sense. Honestly i wasnt expecting too much having seen most of their videos and all but are they full of surprises or what? The audience participation factors heavily in their shows and this one is no different. I am impressed at people getting up, play acting, making sounds and all.

GAMARJOBAT is tops I tell ya. Physical comedy in all its mohawk glory! There are few performances that I actually care about, I can be hard to please. However GAMARJOBAT ranks highly in my books, the other being CIRQUE DU SOLEIL’s.

I’ll leave you with video of their performance, note that it’s only a glimpse of the full show! So loosen that belt and enjoy the preview! Watch with the volume up cos they are really hilarious!

Dedicated to my other half that writes the sweetest letters.

A little gathering & farewell

Over the weekend, we did a little gathering at a japanese friend’s house as she has been transferred to Jakarta to take charge of operations there. So we all had lots of sake, sochu and a sincere home-cooked meal. I’ll just let the pictures continue from here…

Please give a moment for the image to load. Click to enlarge ;)

Missing in pictures were my favourite Yakisoba and all the pickled dishes. I must already be drunk from all that sake..

Special mention to the white rice.. I’m not a big fan of having white rice on its own but this one is really special. It has a nice kind of sweetness and you can feel the texture of each pearly grain. Not available locally as this rice was grown from my friend’s own family backyard rice fields in Iwate prefecture and processed traditionally, not the modern methods.

All the best Kaori!!

Meet my friends, NATTO III and NATTO IV

I have to introduce you to my friends/minions/slaves/robot army/whatever..

From right to left. Meet NATTO III and NATTO IV (yes i gave them the corny names..)

You know how aliens are portrayed as intelligent life forms in American movies cos they jump around like monkeys killing lesser intelligent life forms(thats us). Well, let me show you the real intelligent life forms right here. NATTO III and NATTO IV are both secret robotic agents that well… cleans your floors. I mean… how intelligent can life forms be if they can’t clean up after you right?

NATTO III on the right is a high powered laser guided(im serious) vacuuming robot. At scheduled times of day, it disconnect from its charging station, maps your room using its lasers and proceeds to vacuum every tile that it can get to. It attempts to enter every nook and cranny in its designated area as it scoops up and vacuum dirt using its rotary tool and suction. When done, it will dock itself to charge for next schedule.

NATTO IV on the left is a little bit shy, it’s not as gung ho as NATTO III and is happy to go along quietly with a wet microfibre cloth taking its time as it wipes tile by tile in a back forth motion after NATTO III has checked that the coast is clear.

Together, these 2 minions… I mean slaves….. I mean friends of mine ensures my floors of the apartment are spanking clean before I get home from work. Nuff said, I’ll leave you with videos. Remember, if you have an questions on these, feel free to comment here!

Do I sound like a house cleaning solutions salesperson now?

Do comment if you like my robotic slaves… erm..

Busy 2011 and we now have a brand new blog!

So the MFP Crew had some late nights during the build up of the Luxury Bags Giveaway 2011 and we bonded while sorting out legal issues, creatives and marketing aspects in our office over Sapporo (and Jolly Shandy for one person). Quite frankly it had never been done before so we had no precedence to benchmark ourselves against. So yes you could say we’re a bunch of crazies, ha ha.

Anyway this is the first very post of the MFP Crew Blog, keep following us and we’ll fill you in on who’s who, and the what’s what, and who to avoid on the streets. We’ll also be putting up some backdated posts about what we’ve done in 2011. Stay tuned!
