Outfits of the Week: Goodbye February

posted by:

Slight delay on my end, busy week. My whole weekend was practically burnt working on projects and… editing photos.

I couldn’t think of a title for this week, since this was worn on the last days of Feb, figured “Goodbye February” was kinda appropriate.

Anyway, I was hoping to start off saying something like “welcoming back colours” since last “issue” the focus was “colourless”. Unfortunately, there aren’t many colours this issue either. So, I’m gonna just skip the introduction and introduce you to this week’s “showcase”!

This week, or rather the week before last, we kick off the week with a little style!

MONDAY (February 21, 2011)

Remember two issues back, the Friday (February 11, 2011) outfit? I was raving about this really cute “bear bear bag” I bought from MINIMAOS. I was sooo excited about the bag, I totally forgot to mention I got a coat as well!

Awesome much?

So yes, the stylishly good looking Versatile Zebra Scarf Coat (RM59) you see above (and below) is from MINIMAOS, the inner dress is from Princessa’s Boutique (my personal blogshop, going to relaunch either together with my new label or after), the heels are from Charles & Keith, and the shades are from Juicy Couture.

The other elements of the outfit are pretty much secondary, the primary focus here is the coat.

It was love at first sight, I swear! Unfortunately, to be absolutely honest, I was a little disappointed with the fabric and the workmanship (the scarf had a tear at the edges). That said, it’s only about SGD30, so you really can’t be expecting too much. And you have to admit, the design is really pretty unique.

In case you’re wondering, the Zebra-patterned scarf is attached to the black coat.

I seriously do not do that coat justice. It is pretty stretchable, but it would fit much better on someone with a smaller build, someone like Isabelle or Jac!

TUESDAY (February 22, 2011)

I have this unspoken rule of not wearing the same outfit more than once a month. It’s a pretty new rule. I came up with it late last year. Sadly, I somewhat broke it.

Somewhat meaning, not entirely. I didn’t wear the exact outfit but I’ve worn this jacket numerous times, like to the AL&ALICIA fashion show sometime back. And quite a few times this month. So yeah, the rule still stands! ;P

This is one of my favourite jackets really. It’s one of those designs that’s versatile (casual or semi-formal) and never goes out of style!

The dress and jacket are from THEBLOGSHOP, the heels are from Pedro, and the shades are from Juicy Couture.

WEDNESDAY (February 23, 2011)

Something simple, one dress does it all?

The dress is from The 199 Shop, the bangles are from Forever 21, and the wedges are from Charles & Keith (if not mistaken, this pair was featured in CHIC Magazine some issues back).

The dress doesn’t really flatter me, but it’s easy and comfortable to wear. It would have looked better if I matched it with a belt to give a little more shape.

There’s really nothing much to say about the outfit, not much thought was put into it.

THURSDAY (February 24, 2011)

The Johnnie Walker event (or rather dinner) is tonight (not tonight-tonight but that night)!

I had no idea what was gonna be presented (I do now of course) and had no idea what to be prepared for. What I did know (even before I went) was it was gonna be great (it kinda was, kinda)!

The toga dress (it can also be a top paired with leggings) is from Princessa’s Boutique, the red belt and earrings are from I-really-can’t-remember, and the heels are from Charles & Keith.

Black is the safest colour to wear when you’re uncertain, especially for ladies like me that are more on the chubby side.

Don’t you just love dolling up? Actually no, I really rather prefer having someone do it for me. I need Jac like 24/7.

FRIDAY (February 25, 2011)

It’s the end of the work week and the beginning of bear time!

The chiffon shirt dress is from THEBLOGSHOP, the necklace was a Christmas present handmade by Sylvia (a good friend of mine), the hairband is bear bear’s (I kid you not), the wedges are from Charles & Keith, and the teddybear is from Teddybear (aka bear bear).

The earrings were bought at Bugis Street. If not mistaken, it was SGD5 for three pairs!

A pinch of vintage feel to the whole look wouldn’t you say? (Please say yes >.< !)

SATURDAY (February 26, 2011)

Surprise, surprise! We have more outfits this week, seven to be exact.

The top is from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts were bought at Bugis Street, the bangles are from the streets (or rather beaches to be more exact) of Bali, the hairband is bear bear’s, and the FitFlop slippers are from Priss.

It’s a really casual look I’m going for – easy Saturday.

SUNDAY (February 27, 2011)

The top is from from THEBLOGSHOP, the denim shorts are from I-can’t-remember, the FitFlop slippers are from Priss, and the pink bag is from Bugis Street.

The pink chrysanthemum earrings are also from Bugis Street, the same shop I got my other pair of earrings. Totally adorable, matches the pink chrysanthemum in Snowflake’s vase.

Outfits of the Week: Colourless

posted by:

Once again, it’s the Outfits of the Week, a not-so-special segment that I’m trying my best to maintain and possibly improve! Blogging is sooo tedious…

For this week, colours are inapplicable. Reason being? Well… to be honest, it just kinda happened that way, not really planned. Hurhur.

MONDAY (February 14, 2011)

Who says Mondays have to be blue? Well, my Monday was black with a pinch of sliver and white. But mainly black.

The black shirt is from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts are from Cotton On, the heels are from Pedro, and the accessories (necklace and bracelet, which comes in a set) are self-made.

The design of the shirt makes it quite versatile. Here, I paired it with shorts, giving it a causal look. Pair it with some pants and you’re good to go for a business meeting, seriously – bring a coat or vest to make it look even smarter.

Fyi, the accessories, which you can’t really see, are my favourites out of the whole collection I made. The concept is based on “family”, which explains the charms used.

Accessories

TUESDAY (February 15, 2011)

Second day of the week and I’m dressed as though it’s a weekend. Not ideal for a work day to be honest, but since it’s gonna be the last few days I’m “able” to dress this way, might as well make the best of it, right?

The “tops” and bag are from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts are from Cotton On, and the heels are from Pedro.

I wish I had more pairs of shoes but unfortunately, even if I wanted to buy more… I have space issues.

WEDNESDAY (February 16, 2011)

It’s mid-week again! I was sick so I didn’t go to work. It wasn’t the *cough cough* kinda sick but the… not a good idea to go into details. I’ve already mentioned it on Twitter before.

The huge ribbon with bling top is from Lovelyspree, the shorts are from Bugis Street, and the FitFlop slippers are from Priss. In case you’re confused, Priss isn’t a brand, FitFlop on the other hand is. It was a gift. The earrings are from Priss too.

THURSDAY (February 17, 2011)

One more day and we have a wrap for both the week as well as the showcase of outfits.

Ponchos are seemingly getting more popular these days. Despite having no winter or any other seasons for that matter, the bits of winter fashion are still somewhat adapted in Singapore, with a difference choice of fabric of course (I hope).

This particular poncho you see hanging over my shoulders, and the bag, are from THEBLOGSHOP. The poncho comes in other colours as well, Cel picked this colour for me. The black dress with lace at the ends is a piece from my previous blogshop, the bangles are from the streets of Bali, the necklace is from MYnt Shop, the boots were bought in Hong Kong, and the shades are from Juicy Couture.

FRIDAY (February 18, 2011)

The last day of the work week and the last piece of outfit to showcase.

This outfit is pretty similar to the one worn on Tuesday, in reverse that is.

The “tops” are from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts from Bugis Street, the bangles are from the streets of Bali (I have many of them, in many colours), the FitFlop slippers are from Priss, the shades are from Juicy Couture, and the teddybear is from the Teddybear!

All’s well, ends well.

Outfits of the Week: Back to work… week?

posted by:

Time seems to move by so quickly, finally (not exactly in a good way or bad for that matter) the festive season is over!

Don’t get me wrong, I love having long weekends, and breaks here and there within the week. I’m just a little anti-festive this year. Even Valentine’s Day felt a little… you know. That said, my dear bear bear got me a brown bear bear and I love it to bits!

Anyway, the festive seasons are somewhat over and things are somewhat going back to normal. And by normal, I mean… kinda depressing actually, especially after finding out the “big news”. For now only Teddybear (aka bear bear), Cel, Aylwin, Priss, Jac, Clarence and I know about it. I’m kinda keeping this to myself for a bit until things settle down.

So… check out my wardrobe choice for the start of the depressing new full week at work!

Fyi, you might not want to follow my lead. Here we go…

MONDAY (February 7, 2011)

For Monday, we have bear bear colour! What can I say… a little earth tone can go a looonnnggg way!

The earth-tone dress is from THEBLOGSHOP, the brown heels are from Pedro (admittedly, I’m starting to grow fonder and fonder of the brand), and the shades are from Juicy Couture (my favourite pair of shades if I may add).

There’s really nothing much to say about the choice of this outfit. It’s simple, it’s somewhat flattering, and it really doesn’t take much effort to put together.

TUESDAY (February 8, 2011)

Now Tuesday means it’s one day away from mid-week, which is great! I was having a little difficulty picking what to wear – too many choices, too little time. Eventually, I found something prefect!

The Matvey Polka Frills Top is from Milly Walker, the long black skirt and white-polka-dot-black-base bag are from THEBLOGSHOP, the accessories are self-made, the heels are from Pedro, and the shades are… the same one as before, from Juicy Couture!

There’s actually a reason for this outfit. I haven’t taken my Editor’s Note photo yet, and I have been wanting to showcase Snowflake for quite a while now…

Let’s just say the whole outfit just went really well with Snowflake.

WEDNESDAY (February 9, 2011)

It’s finally mid-week and the “Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future” Showcase at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS)!!!

The black toga dress is from THEBLOGSHOP, the stockings and boots were bought in Hong Kong (during the recent trip for the Hong Kong Fashion Week).

I guess you can kinda figure why I went black, right? I mean, it is the safest colour after all.

But, as safe as my colour choice was, I still kinda forgot about accessorising (I was running late, kinda panicked). I had my earrings (even make-up) on but I should have put on a necklace and bracelet. I got tons of accessories in the recent months, and to think I even make them.

Something I picked up over the radio. Apparently, there is a limit to how many items you should accessorise with, or so says the “personal shopper” from… I think it was TopShop. Anyway, the limit is supposedly three.

I disagree to this by the way. The minimum should be one (since I often make the mistake of only wearing earrings) but there shouldn’t be a maximum. I mean, you shouldn’t go overboard with the accessorising (imagine a hairband with a huge ribbon plus a huge rose choker and like a dozen or more black metal bracelets – I’m thinking Lolita gone wrong here), but three is being a bit too conservative.

Oh yes, before I forget, Snowflake got to know a new friend!

Don’t they look adorable together? Hurhur.

THURSDAY (February 10, 2011)

The work week is almost coming to an end…

So I decided to do a little ballet? I’m kidding of course.

The dress, with a full lace cropped outer top (which is so absolutely adorable), is from THEBLOGSHOP and can also be found at Kay Kay‘s blogshop, KandyKayne! Totally love their apparel by the way, it’s giving me kawaii-fever! The heels are from Pedro (still brown but different tone), and the shades are from Juicy Couture (yes, third time round, told you it’s my favourite pair).

FRIDAY (February 11, 2011)

And we have a wrap! Ending the week…

We have a little… okay, I’m running out of ideas how to describe my wardrobe choice. Hurhur.

The top and shirt are from THEBLOGSHOP, the earrings (which you can’t really see) are from Angelicious Creations, the “bear bear bag” (which just arrived and I TOTALLY LOVE) is from MINIMAOS (got it off Cheesie’s blog), boots are from Bugis Street, and shades (yes those shades again) are from Juicy Couture.

This is probably my favourite outfit cause it kinda displays my personality a little more than the rest. I like a mix of comfort-casual wear with a bit of cute and in light colours. I wear a lot of dark tones, just to be safe, but light ones are what I truly love.

In case you’re wondering, I wear earrings most if not all the time.

Royalty onboard the Royal Caribbean

posted by:

I never fancied rushing to complete a blog entry, especially when it involves posting of numerous photos that required a heavy dose of editing. It’s not just colour correction we’re talking about here, there’s sharpening, Liquify, framing, Lomo effect, etc. It’s a lot of work and I have a certain standard I hope to achieve. The sad truth however, is that I’ve never really managed to achieve these supposed standards. Usually halfway through the process, I get tired of editing and decide to just get over and done with it - this is why I am usually not keen in creative entries competition.

That said, despite the tight time-frame given, and the huge amount of workload (at work) I’m juggling to manage, for the sake of my dear best friend Priss that has put in a lot of effort to complete her entry (and hopefully win the trip), I shall do my best (even though my best meant rushing it on a Wednesday evening when the deadline is Thursday morning)!

Royalty onboard the Royal Caribbean

Note: In this story and almost every other story I come up with, I’m the Princess and you all are… basically unimportant characters that played a part to make the story a little more interesting. And please, don’t hate me for my fantasy.

Before I start my fairytale, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Alvin (who bothers to entertain me despite my sometimes ridiculous questions), everyone else from Omy.sg, as well as the good folks at Royal Caribbean. Without them (and me, thy royal Princess), this entry would not be possible.

It has been years since the last royal voyage, and I’ve longed to go onboard another. Hopefully this time, I would have more pleasant servants that doesn’t keep nagging me for every little detail. I was young when I first went out to sea, my nanny wouldn’t let me out of her sight and constantly made sure my pink fluffy dress, that wasn’t all that fluffy, wouldn’t cause me to fall overboard when a strong win blows. She wasn’t all that smart if you ask me. I wasn’t at all a petite little thing. No wind could have had that much strength to blow me overboard.

When Sir Alvin sent the invitation to tour a ship from the Royal Caribbean, I was delighted! Quickly I forwarded it to my girlfriends, hoping that all of us could go together. Fortunately for us, not all but most of us got the confirmation and all was set in digital writing – a phone call first then in digital writing to be more specific.

Sleepwear from Les Affaires.

Despite the exhaustion from the weekend before – our very first girls’ staycation that involved a night partying at Zirca – I managed to drag myself out of bed, swiftly got ready, exited my chambers and excitedly got out of the palace. Before me, just outside my doorstep, stood the white carriage with my best friend in it! She was there to pick me up and together we were on our way!

She was late no doubt, but I expected nothing less. Mornings has never really been death’s good friend (Priss is known infamously as deadrose during our younger days, therefore she is the supposed “death” in the sentence).

As we arrived at the port this bright and sunny Monday morning of November 22nd, from afar we could already see the rest of the girls waiting patiently. There were many “others” that I’ve never met before, gathered as well. A total of I-don’t-know-how-many-of-us, I’m guessing 40.

This was like no other ship I’ve boarded before. The Legend of the Seas, which is under the Royal Caribbean, weighed a total of 70,000 tonnes and could house up to 2,074 passengers. It wasn’t the largest ship of them all but large enough for just the six of us.

Left to right: Jacelyn, Nadia, Clara, Feliza, ME and Priss

I’ve never been a patient girl, but together with good friends, patience has became a virtue of mine, or so it seemed. Despite struggling with a huge bag filled with gadgets and “stuff”, I managed to pleasantly and patiently wait as they took their own sweet time to verify our IDs and issue our passes. It didn’t feel much like royalty there and then. In fact, it felt more like we were second class citizens. But then again, if you look at it in another perceptive, if they were not strict about their checks, any Tom, Dick and Harry would be allowed onboard. And we wouldn’t want that.

Once onboard (finally), we were taken on a tour, a very fast-paced one if I may add.

With no shops open and no time to shop, withholding my tears, we entered and exited the “shopping mall” within minutes. If anchors were rise and ship set to sea, the shops would have been open and passengers would be able to enjoy Duty Free shopping at the Boutiques of Centrum (the “shopping mall” of this ship) located on level 5, near the Anchors Aweigh Lounge.

Come to think of it, there are really that many lounges/bars in this majestic place. So much so that most of which, apart from Anchors Aweigh Lounge, I can’t even recall any part of its name – maybe the word “lounge” was within it but I can’t be sure.

If not for photos, I’d probably not even remember the interior design of the place except that they are all lovely, much fitted for a member of the royal blood.

Every Princess needs to learn an instrument. I’ve learnt many and it just so happens that the piano is one of my best.

That said, I’d still rather leave it to the professions for public entertainment. I mean, I am a Princess after all. It only makes sense that I’m being entertained instead of entertaining, no?

The place was magnificent. It felt like I had return to my “castle on a cloud” (Les Miserables) except it was on sea and not air. Then again, this kinda just resembled Pan Pacific Hotel if you ask me.

Yes, there is such a thing called the Entertainment room, or rather That’s Entertainment Theatre.

It’s basically like a theater (huge one) with countless seats (or at least I didn’t bother to count), with daily live performances.

There’s a casino too, the Casino Royale, but we won’t allowed any photography there.

There were many decks on this ship, 11th happened to be the highest, if not mistaken.

Where we stood, we could see the open pool.

A beautiful sight it was. Many, myself included, couldn’t resist but snapped away with our cameras.

And for those that had not brought their camera, probably just Lady Priscilla, they probably used their phones (camera phones these days are really powerful).

Before long we were on deck 10, where the open pool was at, experiencing the rays for scorching sun. It is advised to use sunblock if you intend to go for a swim at noon when the ship is docked in Singapore. That said, if the sun is shining brightly, regardless where you are, and you intend to maintain skin as fair as mine, you should still put on sunblock. Black may always be in fashion, but burnt skin is definitely not.

If you’re up for a little rock climbing, fear not! This ship is equipped with just about EVERYTHING you can imagine. Even an artificial wall for those who were up for a challenge (which is definitely not me)!

And…

A mini-golf course!

With no servants around, I had all but my hands to help block the sunlight from my eyes. The sun was just too much, and I had not packed well for the outdoors, not today at least.

What’s for lunch you ask? (No answer yet.)

Hungry, we were lead through a buffet lounge or restaurant, whichever you prefer to call it. However, what was before us was not for us to eat, and we were constantly reminded of it. But as the Princess, member of the royal family, I couldn’t care the least. I reached out, grabbed what resembled a biscuit and fed my dear friend who was starting to get a little grouchy.

It was also mentioned that the food at the buffet table would be replaced constantly.

Still wondering about lunch? (Still waiting.)

As we continued our tour we were lead to the indoor pool with a jacuzzi beside it!

Tired, Lady Priscilla and myself could no longer walk and seated ourselves at one of the “sunbathing chairs” (or whatever you call it).

Before we knew it, we were off again. This time to where most ladies would consider, paradise, the Beauty Centre!

Would you not agree that a spa is perhaps second best to shopping?

You could also get some workout done if you wanted to. The gym equipment were pretty well facilitated.

While some hopped on the track-mail, I made my way to the endless mirrors and started camwhoring like what camwhore women like myself was meant to.

Eventually, more took my cue and joined in the fun. Lady Feliza looked gorgeous, even in reflections.

Before I continue, here my outfit for this voyage!

The top is from THEBLOGSHOP, necklace from MYnt Shop, bracelets from Forever 21, earrings from Bangkok (my sister bought them from Bangkok, I think), Domke camera bag, shorts and boots from Bugis Street.

Next, we explored the chambers.

The family suite was amazing but still second to The Royal Suite.

If you think about it, royal by blood, this suite is like customised-made just for me. Even its name hold my signature.

Finally, before people started fainting, lunch was served at the Romeo & Juliet Dining Room, located at one end of deck 4. I’m familiar with Shakespeare and even more so with Romeo × Juliet (ロミオ×ジュリエット, Romio to Jurietto), a TV anime series that is loosely based on William Shakespeare’s classic play, Romeo and Juliet.

It was mentioned that many would dress up and dine at this restaurant. Hearing that my eyes somewhat lilted up. I was a sucker for gowns and all-else-pretty.

Images of me in an expensive and very much beautiful gown walking down the stairs, flash before my eyes.

And I’m guessing that Lady Feliza and Lady Clara felt the same.

Seated at our table, we were first served bread, then appetizer.

For appetizer we could choose between the Asian Style Chicken Soup or the Shrimp Cocktail Royal. I opted for soup but forgot to take a photo of it. We also had a choice of wine, either red or white. And like most of my lady companions, I went for white.

For the main course, Lady Priscilla had the Chef’s Halibut, which is boiled fillet presented with Spanish soffrito and truffle scented polenta.

There are another two main course, the Shrimp Ravioli and the Lamb Shank with Rosemary, I had lamb shank.

Ending the meal, we were served dessert, the Ivory Chocolate Fondue, which comes with sweet berries in white chocolate mousse.

The half-day tour around the Legend of the Seas assured me that this was fit for royalty. They should be honoured to have graced my royal presence and I for their hospitality.

Note: For more details on the Legend of the Seas, check out royalcaribbean-asia.com!

PS: Lady Priscilla had to leave a little earlier. Lady Nadia, Lady Jacelyn and myself then headed to Tiong Bahru Plaza for beauty needs and more desert! Hurhur.
