First Liposuction, now Personal Training!

posted by:

The decision on going for liposuction was somewhat the turning point of my life. And with the help of Dr. Arthur Tjandra, founder of Elixir de Vie, well… let’s just say I no longer feel restricted with the types of clothing I can wear.

The weather in Singapore is just unbearable. Despite that, if you notice, I barely wear sleeves or clothes that are too tight fitting. I consider myself a relatively confidence individual, however, with pride comes fear. And sadly, my fear is the judgement of others when it comes to looking chunky.

That said, liposuction did help in giving me more self-confidence in my physical appearance but it still isn’t a miracle and I still do not have that body that I’ve been dreaming of. In other words, I will still need to put some hard-work into it.

Arthur is unlike most surgeons I’ve spoke to. Despite his ability to create miracles on a human body, he constantly advises that I should get in shape through exercising. Unfortunately, I’m the kinda gal that takes the short-cut. I rather work my brain than my muscles, if I had any to begin with.

(I’ll elaborate more about my liposuction in another entry. For now, let’s keep this to my personal trainer/training.)

Strangely, after going for the second liposuction – first was my arms, second was my tummy – and hearing that Gavin Foo (of all people in the world) got a personal trainer to help him (in a couple of years or so) fit into a Daihatsu Copen (the bear just got it and I don’t really like it), I started sourcing for my own as well. So yeah, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and tormenting myself with physical hard-work.

Nick (the bear’s friend, my BFF Cel’s ex-playmate, and Nikki’s current boyfriend) introduced me to his trainer Joe’s college, Shayna. We were suppose to meet and discuss the whole “personal training” thingie, but I was kinda held up with “work” and had to postpone it. Sylvia then introduced me to his friend’s boyfriend, and… well, let’s just say he is currently my trainer now.

I have to tell you, not all trainers look like the above photo. And I would freak out if my trainer looked anything like that. What if we end up in an argument and he/she punches me. God. *Ouch*

So anyway, yesterday was my first session with Terence at Choa Chu Kang Stadium – the sun was unbearable.

No, no gym yet. If ever even.

I’ve never undergo personal training before (ice-skating training aside), so I really didn’t know what to expect. And true enough, like Terence said, he’s training methods were a little unusual, nothing kinky of any sort in case you’re straying away. Sylvia’s friend’s boyfriend people. Plus, I have my bear and he is not my type. Hurhur. Just reassurance.

Well, instead of weights, we used water bottles filled with water that I drank, eventually. Hurhur.

No personal training ball, instead… we had this foam thingie to help loosen my muscles or something like that. Terence figured that my tolerance for pain is pretty high. Therefore, he might be changing the routine a bit.

He is right by the way, my tolerance is pretty high. Though… I did kinda scream in pain a little when I did my liposuction for my tummy. Strangely, I was wide awake and I could feel the pain. It wasn’t suppose to be like that. I should be like a dead body on the surgery table. Oh well. It seems it’s not just pain I have tolerance for, I have it for anaesthetics too.

I got to get ready for an interview so I’m gonna stop here first. Anyway, I don’t have pictures of my training but I do have pictures of my before and after liposuction.

I’ll share more about my liposuction experience (1 to 2 more sessions to go) and my 12-session personal training shortly!
