Outfits of the Week: Colourless

posted by:

Once again, it’s the Outfits of the Week, a not-so-special segment that I’m trying my best to maintain and possibly improve! Blogging is sooo tedious…

For this week, colours are inapplicable. Reason being? Well… to be honest, it just kinda happened that way, not really planned. Hurhur.

MONDAY (February 14, 2011)

Who says Mondays have to be blue? Well, my Monday was black with a pinch of sliver and white. But mainly black.

The black shirt is from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts are from Cotton On, the heels are from Pedro, and the accessories (necklace and bracelet, which comes in a set) are self-made.

The design of the shirt makes it quite versatile. Here, I paired it with shorts, giving it a causal look. Pair it with some pants and you’re good to go for a business meeting, seriously – bring a coat or vest to make it look even smarter.

Fyi, the accessories, which you can’t really see, are my favourites out of the whole collection I made. The concept is based on “family”, which explains the charms used.

TUESDAY (February 15, 2011)

Second day of the week and I’m dressed as though it’s a weekend. Not ideal for a work day to be honest, but since it’s gonna be the last few days I’m “able” to dress this way, might as well make the best of it, right?

The “tops” and bag are from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts are from Cotton On, and the heels are from Pedro.

I wish I had more pairs of shoes but unfortunately, even if I wanted to buy more… I have space issues.

WEDNESDAY (February 16, 2011)

It’s mid-week again! I was sick so I didn’t go to work. It wasn’t the *cough cough* kinda sick but the… not a good idea to go into details. I’ve already mentioned it on Twitter before.

The huge ribbon with bling top is from Lovelyspree, the shorts are from Bugis Street, and the FitFlop slippers are from Priss. In case you’re confused, Priss isn’t a brand, FitFlop on the other hand is. It was a gift. The earrings are from Priss too.

THURSDAY (February 17, 2011)

One more day and we have a wrap for both the week as well as the showcase of outfits.

Ponchos are seemingly getting more popular these days. Despite having no winter or any other seasons for that matter, the bits of winter fashion are still somewhat adapted in Singapore, with a difference choice of fabric of course (I hope).

This particular poncho you see hanging over my shoulders, and the bag, are from THEBLOGSHOP. The poncho comes in other colours as well, Cel picked this colour for me. The black dress with lace at the ends is a piece from my previous blogshop, the bangles are from the streets of Bali, the necklace is from MYnt Shop, the boots were bought in Hong Kong, and the shades are from Juicy Couture.

FRIDAY (February 18, 2011)

The last day of the work week and the last piece of outfit to showcase.

This outfit is pretty similar to the one worn on Tuesday, in reverse that is.

The “tops” are from THEBLOGSHOP, the shorts from Bugis Street, the bangles are from the streets of Bali (I have many of them, in many colours), the FitFlop slippers are from Priss, the shades are from Juicy Couture, and the teddybear is from the Teddybear!

All’s well, ends well.

Outfits of the Week: Back to work… week?

posted by:

Time seems to move by so quickly, finally (not exactly in a good way or bad for that matter) the festive season is over!

Don’t get me wrong, I love having long weekends, and breaks here and there within the week. I’m just a little anti-festive this year. Even Valentine’s Day felt a little… you know. That said, my dear bear bear got me a brown bear bear and I love it to bits!

Anyway, the festive seasons are somewhat over and things are somewhat going back to normal. And by normal, I mean… kinda depressing actually, especially after finding out the “big news”. For now only Teddybear (aka bear bear), Cel, Aylwin, Priss, Jac, Clarence and I know about it. I’m kinda keeping this to myself for a bit until things settle down.

So… check out my wardrobe choice for the start of the depressing new full week at work!

Fyi, you might not want to follow my lead. Here we go…

MONDAY (February 7, 2011)

For Monday, we have bear bear colour! What can I say… a little earth tone can go a looonnnggg way!

The earth-tone dress is from THEBLOGSHOP, the brown heels are from Pedro (admittedly, I’m starting to grow fonder and fonder of the brand), and the shades are from Juicy Couture (my favourite pair of shades if I may add).

There’s really nothing much to say about the choice of this outfit. It’s simple, it’s somewhat flattering, and it really doesn’t take much effort to put together.

TUESDAY (February 8, 2011)

Now Tuesday means it’s one day away from mid-week, which is great! I was having a little difficulty picking what to wear – too many choices, too little time. Eventually, I found something prefect!

The Matvey Polka Frills Top is from Milly Walker, the long black skirt and white-polka-dot-black-base bag are from THEBLOGSHOP, the accessories are self-made, the heels are from Pedro, and the shades are… the same one as before, from Juicy Couture!

There’s actually a reason for this outfit. I haven’t taken my Editor’s Note photo yet, and I have been wanting to showcase Snowflake for quite a while now…

Let’s just say the whole outfit just went really well with Snowflake.

WEDNESDAY (February 9, 2011)

It’s finally mid-week and the “Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future” Showcase at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS)!!!

The black toga dress is from THEBLOGSHOP, the stockings and boots were bought in Hong Kong (during the recent trip for the Hong Kong Fashion Week).

I guess you can kinda figure why I went black, right? I mean, it is the safest colour after all.

But, as safe as my colour choice was, I still kinda forgot about accessorising (I was running late, kinda panicked). I had my earrings (even make-up) on but I should have put on a necklace and bracelet. I got tons of accessories in the recent months, and to think I even make them.

Something I picked up over the radio. Apparently, there is a limit to how many items you should accessorise with, or so says the “personal shopper” from… I think it was TopShop. Anyway, the limit is supposedly three.

I disagree to this by the way. The minimum should be one (since I often make the mistake of only wearing earrings) but there shouldn’t be a maximum. I mean, you shouldn’t go overboard with the accessorising (imagine a hairband with a huge ribbon plus a huge rose choker and like a dozen or more black metal bracelets – I’m thinking Lolita gone wrong here), but three is being a bit too conservative.

Oh yes, before I forget, Snowflake got to know a new friend!

Don’t they look adorable together? Hurhur.

THURSDAY (February 10, 2011)

The work week is almost coming to an end…

So I decided to do a little ballet? I’m kidding of course.

The dress, with a full lace cropped outer top (which is so absolutely adorable), is from THEBLOGSHOP and can also be found at Kay Kay‘s blogshop, KandyKayne! Totally love their apparel by the way, it’s giving me kawaii-fever! The heels are from Pedro (still brown but different tone), and the shades are from Juicy Couture (yes, third time round, told you it’s my favourite pair).

FRIDAY (February 11, 2011)

And we have a wrap! Ending the week…

We have a little… okay, I’m running out of ideas how to describe my wardrobe choice. Hurhur.

The top and shirt are from THEBLOGSHOP, the earrings (which you can’t really see) are from Angelicious Creations, the “bear bear bag” (which just arrived and I TOTALLY LOVE) is from MINIMAOS (got it off Cheesie’s blog), boots are from Bugis Street, and shades (yes those shades again) are from Juicy Couture.

This is probably my favourite outfit cause it kinda displays my personality a little more than the rest. I like a mix of comfort-casual wear with a bit of cute and in light colours. I wear a lot of dark tones, just to be safe, but light ones are what I truly love.

In case you’re wondering, I wear earrings most if not all the time.

Don’t even feel like blogging really… zZz

Imagine spending 5 days in a foreign land (although it’s not so far away) and losing the SD card that contains all the photos (from Hong Kong Fashion Week and the stay in Hong Kong)…

AHHH I feel like strangling someone but I have no one to strangle and I can only blame myself for being careless. And there you go. The worst weekend EVER!

*Cry x million*
*Face flat on the table*
*Head banging wall*

On the bright side, KandyKayne‘s new site is up and running! Please flood the site so I can test how much the server can hold. Hurhur.

HKTDC World Boutique + Hong Kong Fashion Week

posted by:

The thing about life is that… everything is unexpected. You might say things you regret but you still have to move on and just accept that “what’s done, is done” and there’s nothing you can do to change it.

So, dear judgmental readers, I’m sorry you cannot see yourselves in the mirrors. It’s sad that you only see others for their flaws and not your own – pot calling the kettle black! Get over yourself, you’re insignificant in this twisted world.

Anyway… I AM GOING HONG KONG for the FASHION WEEK!

I’m so excited I could pee my pants (too bad I’m not wearing them).

(Just something I felt I had to say…)

I’m totally impressed by one particular vendor called Knightly (awesome website btw, although I’m sure my company, Mushroom Multimedia, can still help improve it further hurhur). They are REALLY efficient! I sent an email to request for an invite to their show, 10 minutes later, they replied and said okay! I kid you NOT! (I did introduce myself briefly of course. They are just so kind.)

(Coming back…)

It’s going to be great! Hopefully my boss let’s Cel come along as well. There’s tons of things she could learn from this trip, that of which I would need to justify, to my boss that is.

So, vendors that are attending the HKTDC World Boutique (from January 17 to 20, 2011) and participating in the HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter, please do not hesitate to send me last minute invites (I can’t find some of your contacts unfortunately)! My email address is sabrina(at)sauceink(dot)com. I promise, if you provide me with information and photos (I have no photographer with me sadly), we will be featuring you in the coming issue of SauceINK!

As for those who are not participating, from Hong Kong, Singapore or whatsoever, email me too! Let’s have a get together of some sort. It’ll be fun?

Anyway, I’ll see you all at the show?!

PS: I’m going with Isabelle! It’s our first time abroad together okay! :P

PPS: I would like to take this opp and thank Jacqueline and Clarence (from THEBLOGSHOP) for all the support they have given me! If not for them, I probably won’t be going on this trip. (Don’t bother asking me why though.)

My BAD experience with SilkAir at Medan airport!

posted by:

Note: This entry was written at Medan airport on November 2nd, while waiting to board the DELAYED SilkAir flight back to Singapore.

If you look at it in a positive manner, at least they bother to serve us food (referring to SilkAir). You don’t get that with AirAsia or any of the budget airlines, which makes perfect sense of course. The only problem, I rather be at home in my new Lazy Boy (a new addition to my soon-to-be awesome room with bear bear, it’s gonna be pink mind you). - Scrap that, it never came. Oh well.

I’m quite disappointed with how this is turning out to be. I paid more than a hundred bucks extra so as NOT to be stuck in a “delay” situation. I’ve never managed to fly on time with AirAsia, JetStar or even Cathay Pacific for that mater. So far, Malaysia Airlines, SilkAir and Korean Air has been the only three that didn’t make me sit with bunch of strangers pulling my hair out of boredom (figuratively speaking).

It’s bad enough we have to be here two hours before departure (this isn’t New York, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong airport mind you). A delay is simply dreadful! There’s NOTHING here! Not even WiFi!

Well, so much for expecting more from the alliance. SilkAir is off my punctuality list. I’m so disappointed I could tear up right about now (exaggerating of course). My poor bear must be furiously tapping his tiny iPhone 3GS right about now (too bad I cannot publish this entry now, otherwise he can read it and know that I’m furiously tapping on my Apple device too – the iPad!).

What can I say, I’m a writer, when i’m bored out of my wits, I write (or type on a touch-screen keyboard cause my keyboard is deep in my luggage bag and I’m lazy to dig it out). It makes perfect sense really. A writer writes, a singer sings, a teacher teaches, blah blah blah.

This totally explains why I’m suffering hair loss. The world just continuously makes my subconscious mind wanna pull out my hair all the time. And although I do not physically fulfil the calling of the world, my hair just falls without me having to pull them out. I’m making this up of course. (And no, I’m not suffering hair loss, I just don’t have thick hair. I wonder if they can surgically implant hair?)

Going off point for a tiny bit. If anyone knows if this is actually possibly, and I mean real hair of course not some hair extension or sewing method, please do share!

(Coming back) I’m still waiting. Miserably. The last announcement mentioned “proceed to waiting room!”

For the love of god, we’re probably ALL here! There’s nothing to do here! It’s not like we can go shopping or anything. The place is smaller than my primary school’s assembly hall. I’m sooo bored. I should have purchased more digital books for my iPad. Totally dig the continuation of Confessions of a Shopaholic, Mini Shopaholic. The dialogues are sooo… sooo… just great! (I can’t think of a better word really.)

If I listen to the Indian speak for a second longer, I’m gonna strangle myself. It 21:35 “local time” (as in Medan time) already. Aren’t we suppose to depart at 21:45? Another delay I presume? Oh god, can you imagine the cab fare if I were to take a cab home from Terminal 2?

This is really frustrating, I really do not want to hear what men have to say about bad wallet design. If you think it’s bad, why the fuck did you buy it anyway? Isn’t that super duper retarded. You’re saying something you bought has a bad design. It’s not like it’s a defect, we’re talking about design here. Geez.

After watching Slumdog Millionaire, I am feeling more uncertain about “them”. Not trying to be racist here or anything like that, but the cruelty in the film has not put India in a good light. The murdering and what-not, just didn’t go down quite well for me.

I do not want to be in a situation where I’m caught in the crossfire of a riot or anything that involves violence. How the hell can they afford guns anyway?!

If my life could restart all over again, I’d study really hard, be a scholar and become some female politician or something. Basically someone that has a say about the horrible conditions the world is in (or positioned to be). Or research about some oh-so-important discovery that could change the world! I would not have gone into the entertainment line. The root to ALL evil so to speak. (I’m just blabbering by the way.)

And it’s 21:49 and no mention of a delay. Oh god, what’s up with SilkAir!? This is terribly disappointing. An one hour delay is bad enough, now they don’t even bother informing us of a further delay? Did the volcano blow up the plane or something? I am not buying the “technical reason” bullshit. Erm… then again, that makes sense too. They screwed up! That’s exactly what they’re saying.

I don’t think Korean Air flies Medan, neither does Malaysia Airline, or direct at least. I’m sooo not taking Malaysia Airlines and transfer at Kuala Lumpur. That totally wouldn’t make sense, especially since it’s an hour flight.

And they say (or rather, just Priss) a thousand words is difficult to hit in an entry, what do they know. I’m a wordy blogger. Have I mentioned iPad doesn’t allow me to upload images? It’s got something to do with not having a local drive. The argument about it in the forums are very interesting. It’s a love-hate situation.

More than a dozen green boxes of delight dumped before my eyes, no chit chatting beside me, and the fading shouts of a woman that may be in a heated argument with “some guy” (I could be totally wrong about that btw). And still, I’m seated in the waiting room that smells.

As much as I hated Jakarta’s airport (the queue at customs are impossible), I hate Medan’s even more (the wait is exhausting). I could use coffee right about now, but to hell with it. I only want a double shot espresso not some cheap shit.

And tada! More than a thousand words, this is such a breeze when I’m in a this-is-fucking-boring mood. I could complain and find fault with just about anything. Hmmm… I might be a good story-teller after all? Are you still reading this entry?

So anyway, I’m about to kill myself due to extreme boredom. And when you read this entry,
I’d probably have risen from the dead, or successfully pulled through despite the agony I’ve been suffering – the smell and boring conversations surrounding me.

And still, repeating myself for the hundredth time (exaggerating no doubt) I am still here and no news about departure. Did some Russian spy blow up the airplane or something? I’m starting to think there’s some truth in frictional movies like Killers and Salt. I’m sure there’s truth in the frictional blockbuster creations but still, the extend of which it is position maybe a little too unrealistic for an average daydreaming Princess like myself. (I’m just typing, sense is no longer part of the content.)

And the shouting from the hysterical woman that I don’t wish to meet continues. Maybe there’s going to be a gunshot soon?

Medan is not exactly New York City (though even there, it’s not safe), or better, Singapore. In fact, it’s somewhat India or Vietnam. Basically, you could get someone assassinated and get away with it scot free, or so says the blockbuster movies.

Now I’m smelling some sort of gas. Is there like a gas leak or something? Are they trying to gas us to death? Oh god, please no. I didn’t come here and spend sooo much money just to get murdered for no reason in a crappy airport.

No one will read this lengthy entry of mine! I spent so much time writing it.

Seriously, what’s with that smell, the screaming and still no gunshot. This place suck, but Arthur rules! I guess it’s a trade off of some sort. They say you need to give up something in exchange for greatness. The gift Arthur gives to women can be considered greatness.

And people are starting to get a little curious – woman screaming. So exactly what is going on downstairs? Can someone please gimme some updates? Has it any relation to the delay? And exactly what’s with the damn delay anyway. This is truly the worst experience ever.

15 minutes before 22:45 (Medan time that is), an announcement about a delay was finally made. It’s 22:45 and we’re still at the waiting area. So does the plane intend to take off without the passengers? Clearly not.

I’m guessing there’s gonna be another delay that will only be announced much later? Sigh.

I take it back (what I said to bear bear before I left), SIlkAir is just as unreliable.

15 minutes after the supposed departure time of 22:45 another announcement declared that the plane will only depart at 23:30 Medan time. To hell with this. If you wanna avoid inconvenience, at least inform us earlier! Bullshit!

PS: We made it home safely. (Otherwise I wouldn’t have managed to publish this entry.)

New York City: Arrival

posted by:

I’ve never taken a 14 over hour flight in my life before, and I’m not even including the 4 hours from Singapore to Hong Kong.

So yeah, it’s like a whole day of flying. Tiring, but one hell of an experience.

The worst part of the whole journey had gotta be the mad rush to catch the connecting flight from Hong Kong to New York. It was totally insane. I barely had time to use the ladies. Thankfully, we made it, or so I thought.

We stood, we hoped, we were disappointed.

It seems our baggages didn’t make the flight. Panic was not an option. It’s gonna be a one day wait, not really that bad, but definitely not good.

Fyi, if you’re heading to New York City, I strongly recommend you change SGD to USD in Singapore. I was shocked to see the rates at the airport. Can you imagine paying extra SGD190 for every USD1,000? It’s as though they forgot recession hit. Seriously.

Cabbing is totally expensive compared to Singapore. The base price is like USD45 and on top of that you still have toll, etc. It took like 30 minutes from the airport to Hotel Roger Williams, a Midtown New York City hotel, and cost like USD50. (You could look at the plus side though, if there’s a traffic jam, it’s still gonna be USD50.)

After we checked in the hotel room, it was kinda 10+pm. We went to grab a pizza (totally awesome pizza if I may add), picked up some drinks and chips then headed back to get some sleep.

It was late, so… no photos.
