Catch LMAO Off-Broadway!

posted by:

Ever caught a hilarious off broadway show before? Folks in New York City, you’re in luck!

LMAO is the off broadway show presented by the popular improv troupe “Eight is NEVER Enough”. The troupe presents a hilarious interactive musical comedy revue at the Times Square Arts Centre.

Currently at their 9th season, the cast aims to deliver non-stop hilarity as it navigates today’s hot topics through original song and sketch comedy.

The subject matter changes daily. In recent shows there have been parodies and topics that have included (but not limited) original spoofs told in the style of: Anthony Weiner, Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, Twilight, Harry Potter, Danielle Steel, Dr Suess and Sarah Palin, TV show and movie parodies of iCarly, Dexter, Jersey Shore, Glee, American Idol, Family Guy, other ridiculous skits and musicals about every topic imaginable.

The most important part of the show is the audience participation. The audience gets to decide what the topics are for every scene and song.

The show is recommended for ages 6 and up, the humor ranges from slapstick silly to sophisticated wordplay.

LMAO Off-Broadway now playing at:

Times Square Arts Center

New York City (Day 1): Welcome to Times Square!

After a wonderful breakfast [part 1, part 2] (not exactly at Tiffany’s but at Brooklyn Diner), a walk down Times Square was the prefect remedy to help digest the meal. Seriously, after such a huge meal… a walk (the longer the better) is very much necessary, VERY MUCH necessary.

Times Square kinda reminds me of Seoul (South Korea) with a mix of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). In a good way of course.

Boutiques => Seoul, South Korea
Streets => Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I liked my trip to Seoul, and Kuala Lumpur is somewhat my favourite part of Malaysia. So yeah, it’s all good.

Anyway, while walking down Times Square we passed by one of the T-Mobile outlets.

Mobile phones here are dirt cheap! A phone together with a basic prepaid line cost less than USD70. They even have customised plans for bloggers, or so says the brochures.

I got myself a plan with 500 minutes talk-time, unlimited text and unlimited data (a more expensive prepaid plan that works on my BlackBerry)! All for the price of USD72, without contract. It’s the unlimited data that sealed the deal really.

Getting the line was like being reconnected to the world again. I could tweet on the go and BBM my friends! I literally jumped for joy. Even the sales guy said “you’re just happy to BBM eh.” I’m guessing my giggling, the sparkle in my eyes and the jumping kinda gave me away.

(Moving along…)

I like Sesame Street. Cookie Monster happens to be one of my favourite characters. The M&M on the other hand… I don’t know.

Oh yes…

You got it! We have similar bags!

New York City (Day 1): Breakfast at Tiffany’s #2

The last couple of days has been tiring, my feet are killing me. So anyway, back to breakfast.

We discovered Brooklyn Diner “American Grille” and it was pretty neat, in a “classic” kinda way.

Come home to the Brooklyn of your childhood in one of the most unique and exciting party spaces in New York.

The food and service wasn’t too bad, a little on the expensive side (compared to Singapore) and a little too generous (in terms of serving), but an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Okay, this is a little off-point, but… well… the waiters here in New York City are kinda cute. Maybe it’s just me. I don’t know. Walking the streets for sooo long, I might be delusional. But seriously, the waiter that was serving us was really really cute!

(Back to breakfast.)

Breakfast picks:

The supposed “big breakfast” meal for Teddybear.

And pancakes for me! I totally love pancakes for breakfast. Then again, I love pancakes period, waffles too.

If you’re in New York City and wanna check out the Brooklyn Diner, here are the addresses:

Brooklyn Diner 57th St.
212 West 57th Street
(between Broadway and 7th Ave.)
Tel: 212 977 1957

Brooklyn Diner Times Square
155 W. 43rd Street
(between Broadway and 6th Ave.)
Tel: 212 265 5400

They have two outlets, we were at the Times Square one if not mistaken.

New York City (Day 1): Breakfast at Tiffany’s #1

The hotel’s bed was really comfortable, but strangely enough… I still managed to wake up really early.

By 8.30am, we were out of the hotel and making our way to grab some breakfast. We considered heading to the pizza place (Empire Pizza) from the night before, but as we continued walking forward (towards the direction of Times Square), we were just too lazy to go backwards.

It’s typical of us really. Come to think of it, we only got the hotel like the night before the flight. We’re “easy going” people, or some would say… “disorganised” depending on how you look at it.

So yeah, having not done much research on the area we were going to spend 5 nights at, this morning “walk”, in search for breakfast, gave us the opportunity (or excuse) to check out our neighbourhood.

Despite it’s name, it’s not really a fashion-oriented street. I don’t really know why it’s called “Fashion Ave” really.

And finally…

We found a breakfast place! What did we have? Well… try make a guess? I’m tired, gonna continue after some shut eye.
