I’ve picked up men in bars, the bookstore, supermarket… you name it, I’ve tried it! But I’ve found that one of the best ways to meet men is through Internet Dating Sites.
At dating websites, intentions are clear. People are there for a reason, be it to just hook up, find a friend with similar interests or look for a marriage partner. Plus, in the advance search criteria, you can specify the age range, race, religion, whether he smokes or drinks, and even if he wants to have kids or not. So to me, that’s like cutting to the chase. Don’t waste time having to weed out men who don’t meet your criteria, the site does it for you. Fantastic!
I think in this day and age, dating or matchmaking sites no longer carry the stigma of the desperate personal ads section. In fact, I’ve dated many professional men of caliber off sites such as match.com. I would probably never have met any of them off the streets I tramp on or through my usual social circles. So Internet dating does definitely broaden dating horizons.
The first and most important step in Internet Dating is getting your profile right.
Decide What You Want
And make this clear in your profile. Are you looking to meet new friends? Find love? Get married and start a family? Or just enjoy dating? Whatever your choice, it often helps to know what you’re looking for.
Find The Right Site
There are many Internet dating sites which you can Google for. Match, Meetic and Singapore Love Links are pretty reputable ones in Singapore. Use common sense, if you register at a site such as Adult Friend Finders, don’t be surprise if everyone in there is just looking for a fling.
Wording Your Profile
Be honest and fun when writing your profile. There’s simply no point in lying on your profile. You’ll get found out in the end anyway, and it’s exhausting setting yourself up on dates that you keep disappointing!
If you’re fat but say you are of ‘slim’ build, your potential partner may be in for a shock when you meet.
If, like Heather Mills, you’ve only got 3 out of 4 limbs, now’s the time to mention it, and not just before you pop the prosthesis off as you hop into his bed.
If you’re a salesgirl, don’t pretend you’re a supermodel. If you’ve got kids, say so. Just be honest. It may take longer to attract someone who likes you for being you, but it’s worth it.
The Photograph
Photographs are vital when it comes to online dating and attracting your matches because most singles on internet dating sites only look at and respond to people with photo profiles. If you do not put a photograph on your profile, members may find you dodgy or trying to hide something.
Make your main photo a head shot and be sure to smile. You should not attempt to confuse people by using a photograph that has 3 other people in it. And don’t hide it behind big sunglasses, etc.
Keep your photos recent. Most singles on your online dating site are looking for a relationship and they want to see the real you. The real you now, not ten years ago. Posting current photos shows confidence and honesty and will help you attract the kind of people you’re looking for. There’s no sense in luring someone to respond to your profile only to show up on the date looking completely different!
Creating your internet dating profile is simple if you stick to these basic rules. Once your profile is set up, you can start meeting people! Next, I’ll share with you the 4 types of men you’ll meet through Internet Dating!
