Maintaining a relationship is not the easiest thing to do. When investing (yes you read it right, investing) in a relationship you are essentially investing into yourself, your happiness and your future. Sure, the beginning is always full of potential and giddy excitement… but down the road, there’s no denying the hard work. Imagine you’ve just joined a new gym to get fit but after a while, you start losing your motivation? You guessed it right, you quit. It’s human nature. Let’s explore some good relationship resolutions for this new year, so your relationship will remain one that is worth working to keep.

Communication really matters
It really really does matter. It is really not enough even if you speak a hundred times a day. You need to tell each other about stuff that matter. You might be continuously speaking but not informing your feelings to each other. Do avoid being “silent” right after every argument. Discuss long term programs, dreams, as well as some secrets to always keep each other close. Do inform one another the good things as well as the terrible.
Spend some Quality Time together
If you find yourself preferring to hang out with other people compared to your loved one… you need to change that mindset. Make time for your partner and find activities that you can both enjoy together. Better still, plan couple holidays throughout the year, these can be inexpensive short weekends away and perhaps one epic adventure that you both can save up for and plan for. It’s something to look forward to, and give you plenty of time to bond.
Do not talk bad
It seems very easy to keep in mind not so good things that happen in your relationship. So this will be completely opposite of what you are used to doing. You are going to consciously forget the bad issues and attempt to move forward without having to look in the past. If you and your partner have talked about the issues, don’t keep looking back. Focus on the positive and never dwell on the bad. And stop gossiping about all the crap things your partner does! Instead tell your friends about the good moments. Keep the positivity flowing and don’t dwell on the negative.
Be a Problem Solver
Every relationship has problems. For instance, monetary issues can arise from the differences in opinion in how each partner spends money. Disagreements in how to approach problematic situations, raising kids, or dividing home chores also need problem-solving abilities. It’s easier to blame your partner for all the issues within your relationship than facing the truth that the two of you need to work with each other to resolve these problems.
Have Some Fun!
Staying with the person whom you adore should really be fun and great. There exists a lot of excitement that will go together with finding the “one” to share your life with and creating a commitment. Now it is obvious that not every moment will be wonderful, but you should be happy to be with the one you chose. Don’t become negative and allow yourself to be stuck in a rut… this will only bring you down and likely your companion too. Laughter is the key, make it your habit and smile as often as is possible. If you are genuinely unhappy, maybe it’s time to reassess your relationship and your life choices.
Make this year the one where your relationship changes for the better, and never look back!
