Now that I’m in my 30s, I need to make more conscious decisions about my skin.
One of the treatments I’ve always wanted to do is Rejuran Healer, a non-invasive skin treatment that repairs and delays signs of aging. I was this close to walking into a clinic in Seoul when I was there in April to have it done. What stopped me was the thought of pain. I’ve read blog posts and reviews and even watched videos online on the process, and most of it was gruesome and filled with images of injection, blood, and tears of people who have gone through it. Armed with the courage and determination to finally achieve that porcelain skin akin to k-drama stars, I made an appointment with Dr. Rachel Ho of La Clinic.
Throwback to April 2019, Seoul
What is Rejuran Healer?
Rejuran Healer naturally regenerates the damaged tissues to create healthier skin and improves skin elasticity. By building collagen in the skin, Rejuran Healer increases skin firmness and removes signs of aging like enlarged pores and fine wrinkles. Rejuran Healer is an injectable polynucleotide (PN) skin booster. Polynucleotide chains are DNA fragments that repair damaged dermal (skin) cells and assist in collagen stimulation.

Polydeoxyribonuclotides (PDRN) has previously been used as a skin injectable for anti-ageing and hair growth treatments in Korea, and medically, for regeneration purposes. PN is a purer and more concentrated form of PDRN and has stronger regenerative properties. The polynucleotides and PDRN are obtained from salmon germ cells.
Who is Rejuran Healer suited for?
Rejuran Healer is suited for anyone. Both men and women who are concerned about ageing and want to treat their fine lines, wrinkles, and coarse skin. Rejuran Healer can also be used to treat depressed acne scars by building collagen in the skin so that the scars become less shallow. Younger patients can also get Rejuran Healer to protect their skin before the signs of aging occur. Besides building collagen in the skin, Rejuran Healer helps to increase the blood supply of the skin to delay wrinkles, thin skin, and pigmentation. With Rejuran Healer, our skin is also healthier, brighter and firmer.
How soon can I see results of Rejuran Healer?
Each Rejuran Healer treatment utilises 1 syringe (2ml) of the product which is enough for the entire face. It is recommended to get 3-4 treatments in 3-4 weeks interval to see results. After which, you can do a bi-yearly or yearly maintenance. The process of healing is dependent on each person. Personally, my face is soft to touch (like a baby’s bum!) on the third day. A week into my treatment, I could go around with minimal makeup because of my good skin.
Consultation with Dr Rachel Ho when I asked her a million and one questions
Dr Rachel Ho was very thorough and detailed during my consultation. She went through my skincare regimen, concerns and my motivation to get Rejuran Healer. She then shared with me what Rejuran Healer is about and compared it to other treatments like Skinboosters and fillers. I was listening to all of this and shared that my main concern was the pain factor that came together with the treatment. I thought that it was better to be upfront about it. Dr Rachel Ho assured me that I would be okay and started me on painkillers and anti-bruising medications before numbing cream was applied to my skin. Dr Rachel Ho suggested that I get a combination of Rejuran Healer, Skinboosters, and Microbotox done together instead of the Rejuran Healer alone, to address my concerns of aging and my desire for healthier skin.
Why combine Rejuran Healer, Skinboosters and Microbotox?
Although Rejuran Healer alone can protect the skin and boost collagen levels in the skin, the combination of Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox gives even better and faster results. Skinboosters help to increase hyaluronic acid levels in the skin to improve skin hydration and skin brightness. Patients with drier skin or dull skin will find the addition of Skinboosters better for their skin. Microbotox helps to reduce skin oiliness and shrink enlarged pores. By combining Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox, I can get better results from one treatment without experiencing the discomfort or downtime of 3 separate treatments.
Dr. Rachel Ho sharing her medical journey
My review of Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox
After taking painkillers and anti-bruising medications, my face was numbed with numbing cream. I patiently waited for the numbing cream to take effect while Dr Rachel Ho, whom by now I have accustomed to calling Rachel, shared her experience as a skin doctor in Singapore.
After 15 minutes or so, my cheeks were numb. Dr Rachel Ho tested for pain by performing one injection. I could not feel any pain so Dr Rachel Ho continued to inject my whole face with Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox.
Dr Rachel Ho injected my face with Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox using an injector machine. She explained that it was painless because an injector machine was used. The entire process was completed after 30 minutes. They needed to wake me up because I stole a short nap in between.
Immediately after Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox injections
After the injections of Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox were complete; I was started immediately on a recovery LED treatment to reduce redness and downtime.
I was prescribed an antibiotic cream and anti-bruising medications to prevent infections and to speed up recovery. Before I left the clinic, I checked the mirror to see if I was bruising or if my face was super red. It wasn’t. There were however small red dots likened to freckles on my cheeks and forehead. I was told that some patients develop bruising and that really depends on individuals. I said my goodbye to Dr Rachel Ho and told her that I’ll share my results!
Immediately post-treatment, you can hardly see any bruising and redness (the red spot is my dry spot)
My results of Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox
Day 1 – Monday 3 pm
This was the time I left the clinic, I dove back straight to work. I can still feel the numbing cream on my face. Red needle marks started to show up in places where I got my injection but barely noticeable unless you walk up really close to my face.
Monday 8 pm
I reached home, washed my face as per normal and applied the cream given to me. I also ate the pill after having dinner. By this time, I can see mild redness and needle marks on my forehead and cheeks. I didn’t notice needle marks on my chin even though I had some injections there too. There was no pain and in my face the other review videos that I had watched.
Day 2 – Tuesday
The red dots became more visible only on my forehead. I conveniently used my fringe to cover the red dots. The red dots on my cheeks blended well with my freckles. I did what the doctor said and I did not apply any make-up on my face. Armed with only an eyeliner, I went to work and nobody noticed the red blotches on my face. I ended the day with an evening run with my puppy as usual. Before I went to bed, I started feeling a change in my face – smoother to touch, fewer wrinkles and fine lines especially at the corners of my eyes.
Gosh, it’s super hard to take a selfie with this one
Day 3 – Wednesday
By this time, the needle marks on my forehead had dried up but Dr. Ho advised me not to pick on the scabs. I could barely see the needle marks on my cheeks. I washed my face, applied a lippie and went to work. By this time, even the dark undereye circles have subsided, and I survived without makeup. I ended the day with yoga.
Day 4 – Thursday
By the fourth day, all the needle marks were gone. My face was soft to touch and I kept touching it! It felt firmer and I even thought that my face looked smaller. My pores were noticeably smaller, and there was no need to apply any concealer at the usual spots that I usually would. I only needed to put on minimal makeup just on my eyes and lips. I had buffet lunch with friends and even attended a blogging event at night!
Yes, I love shrimps. Actual screenshot from my IGS
Day 5 – Friday
I felt confident – no kidding. Colleagues have noticed my brighter face, and some of them remarked that I looked “relaxed” and “refreshed”. I used to have very obvious fine lines on eyes but it has improved a lot after my Rejuran Healer treatment. My skin looks and feels healthier and younger.
I even took some photoshoots in the morning for clients
Selfie at work when nobody’s watching
Day 6 – Saturday
I barely had any sleep, because I stayed up late on Friday. But I woke up very early to bring my puppy to Botanic Gardens. I applied concealer under my eyes and that was it. The rest was just my good skin speaking for itself. My skin looked brighter and my skin tone became evener.
On the way to Botanic Gardens
Day 7 – Sunday
It was almost a week since I did my Rejuran Healer treatment with Dr Rachel Ho. I woke up early and did some photoshoots. The time taken to complete my usual makeup routine had been cut in half because of my good skin. My previously very dry skin now looked extra hydrated and plump, like I had 8 hours of sleep every night. I think I’m close to achieving that k-drama star level of porcelain skin, thanks to the treatment.
Week of October 28 (~1 month after Rejuran Healer)
I went to Bangkok during the long weekend with my family. I haven’t seen my mom for a long time because they’re stationed overseas and the first thing she asked me was, “Did you do something to your face”. I told her I tried Rejuran Healer and gave her a long explanation on what the procedure was about. She said that my face looked glowy. She also knew that I have a history of dry skin, but my skin looked healthy and hydrated now. And despite the humidity and the dust in the urban metropolis of Bangkok, my skin was bright and bouncy. You will not only see but also feel the difference. I did not wear or apply any foundation on my skin and yet the colour is super even. If you zoom in and scrutinize my photo, you would see that the lines around my eyes are now also visibly reduced.
Took some product shots for a brand, and I only applied lipstick, blush and eyeshadow
Me while waiting for my mom to shop, my chin used to be very rough with pimple scars, but now it looks more even
I flew back to Singapore and landed at 1 am; got home to unpack I only got to sleep at 2 am. I woke up at 7:45 am and went to work the next day. Normally, I would look like a zombie but I was pretty surprised that my skin looked healthy and it looked like I spent the entire long weekend at the spa which I didn’t. My makeup didn’t cake at all, and I would normally apply a very thick of concealer to cover my dark spots but after the treatment, I just needed a few swipes here and there.
Week of November 4 (5 weeks after Rejuran Healer)
The time I take to complete my makeup has been ridiculously cut into half now. I used to apply a primer, concealer, liquid foundation, powder foundation, eye makeup (eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara), lipstick and blush. I just do eye makeup and put on lipstick nowadays. A good and healthy-looking skin can go all the way. This was taken at around 6:30 am.
On the way to a company event and I can’t help but take a selfie. My skin tone looked so even and I’m so happy with it.
I have also started experimenting using orange-toned eyeshadows because it now matches my skin tone. My sun spots lightened significantly and there is no longer a need to cover them with a concealer.
Week of November 11 (6 weeks after Rejuran Healer)
Here I am, makeup-free and about to go to bed. With no bright lights or makeup, you can see that my skin is glowy. My dark undereye circles are lighter, my dark sunspots are barely visible too. My pores, especially on my nose, have shrunk, which means that I have lesser blackheads now!
Last selfie for my review, I think you had enough by now. Full disclosure, this was taken after lunch and look at my skin – bright and supple, thanks to Rejuran Healer! The fine lines at the corner of my eye are barely visible too. Did I achieve my K-drama goals of porcelain glass skin?
Debunking some misconceptions about Rejuran Healer
- Rejuran Healer is painful AF
Everyone’s pain tolerance is unique but I can confidently say that pain was minimal for my injections for Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox. From a scale of 1-10, I will rate eyebrow threading as 4, this is 2 for my combined injections. The numbing cream definitely helped.
- You need local anaesthesia for Rejuran Healer
False. Rejuran Healer is not a surgical procedure and while there may be a slight pain, anaesthesia is not required.
- The downtime for Rejuran Healer is a week
Not for me. Those red dots took three days to disappear. I did the procedure on Monday afternoon and woke up on Thursday with the red needle marks all gone. It goes without saying that I followed the doctor’s advice – no makeup and alcohol for 5 days and I also used the medications prescribed by Dr Rachel Ho.
- Rejuran Healer is equivalent to Botox
The answer is a big no. Botox is made up of neurotoxin protein while Rejuran Healer is made up of Salmon DNA fragments or PDRN. Rejuran Healer is a medical treatment that heals and repairs skin and builds collagen in the skin. Botox is used to treat wrinkles.
Conclusion of my Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox treatment
My Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox with Dr Rachel Ho have made my skin firmer and more glowy. While I have started to see changes just one week into getting the Rejuran Healer treatment, I felt the full effects after 5 weeks and continued to see improvements after that. My pores are significantly smaller, especially on my nose area. I used to cover my pimple scars on my chin area and dark sunspots on both sides of my cheeks with concealer, but now, it is no longer necessary to conceal them anymore. My fine lines and my laugh lines are significantly improved. My skin tone which is notably uneven, no thanks to frequent sun exposure, has also evened out a lot.
As the treatment is non-invasive, there is very little pain and discomfort and the recovery time is also very short. The combination of Rejuran Healer, Skinbooster and Microbotox is strongly recommended to treat and prevent aging. My readers know that I have eczema and very dry skin, but after the treatment, my face feels supple and smooth like I drank 20 glasses of water and clocked in more than 8 hours of sleep everyday.
Dr Rachel Ho has also made the experience more comfortable for me by being very patient and gentle with me during the consultation and treatment and I would strongly recommend that you visit her clinic. I will definitely go back to her after 6 months.
