What better way to unwind and relax than to do a weekend staycation?
Get away from your daily grind for a few nights without the hassle of leaving this little island. And taking some tips from our MyFatPocket’s very own Staycation King, William Tan, always find a hotel with a comfortable room, with great facilities for you to use without needing to travel far out again, which will totally defeat the purpose of a staycation.
Staycation King William headed out for a staycation at Hotel Jen Tanglin for the weekend. Read on to find out more about the rooms and facilities at Hotel Jen Tanglin, and if our Staycation King gave the hotel his thumbs up.
Room type: Hotel Jen Tanglin Club Room
The Club Room‘s main attraction has to be its bay window sofa that provides panoramic city and garden views. Pick from a King-size bed or twin beds depending on your needs, and the feedback from Staycation King was that the thread count of the bedsheets must be really high because he had a very good sleep on the very soft and comfortable bed with sheets that were extremely smooth to touch.
Enjoy 24-hour access to the Club Lounge with your Club Room stay, and feel free to pop over to the lounge for light snacks, coffee and comfortable lounge space, with unlimited use of the business centre facilities.
The need to stay connected is of utmost importance since our Staycation King is always on social media. Hotel Jen Tanglin’s high-speed WiFi, not just in the room but everywhere in the hotel, was a huge plus point for those who need to stay connected all the time. To add on to that, there are 4 USB ports and 4 international plugs in the Club Room. Any traveller would know how important that is because the worst kind of hotels are those without sufficient plugs and ports since we have so many gadgets nowadays.
The Club Room stay includes 24-hour access to the Club Lounge.
Located on Level 17, the Club Lounge offers a stunning and unblocked view of the estate’s surroundings, with daily breakfast, mid-day culinary treats, and also free flow of spirits, wines, beers and small dinner bites from 6pm to 8pm.
Besides food, some of the Club Lounge benefits include exclusive check-in and check out, one piece of laundry pressing per stay (because who knows if a surprise date may pop up!), two hours use of my meeting room suites per stay, and PressReader access to over 7,000 newspapers and magazines.
Let’s start will our top favourite — Essence Vale Spa. William tried a hot stone massage and was 100% recharged after that, but if you prefer something different, you can pick from their many relaxing spa treatments, from aromatherapy to deep tissue massages. A sauna, steam bath and indoor whirlpool tub are also available to allow guests to relax to promote inner and outer well-being.

For those who love to bask in the sun and do a few laps in the pool, you can always head to the 30-metre swimming pool during your stay. If you don’t want to engage in something so strenuous, try the outdoor whirlpool. Enjoy the fresh air and relax let the soothing waters whirl your stress away. And did we mention that the natural sunlight also made the pool area perfect for your OOTDs for the ‘gram? Try posing by the deck chairs for your next shot.
Our Staycation King isn’t exactly a person who works out so he skipped the gym entirely. However, in case you are wondering, Hotel Jen Tanglin housed a spacious 105 sq metres gym with a view of the pool, with functional state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, including machines and comprehensive sets of weights.
J65 Buffet Dinner
After the pool and spa session, it was time to satisfy the hunger pangs. Staycation King William went over to J65 which features the freshest seafood on ice and a range of multicultural cuisine of Singapore as well as signature home-style dishes.
Watch the chefs display their skills in the open kitchen as you enjoy your dinner. The food was fresh, flavourful, and definitely mouth-watering. Staycation King actually recommended the team to head over to J65 for a buffet dinner even if we are not having a staycation because the food will make the trip totally worth it.
Current promotions for J65:
Expect a diverse dining journey at J65 at Hotel Jen Tanglin as the restaurant’s festive specials encompass a live seafood BBQ experience and an array of multicultural cuisine. Find out more here.
Staycation King woke up a little earlier on the next day to check out what Hotel Jen Tanglin had in store for the breakfast that was included in the Club Room stay. It was great to know that there was a wide variety of food to choose from at the breakfast buffet, from western breakfast offerings like eggs and waffles to our local delights like Nasi Lemak and Chee Cheong Fan.
Staycation King had a hearty breakfast before checking out of his room seamlessly with the assistance of the friendly staff at the reception. When we asked if he would give us his thumbs up for his weekend staycation at Hotel Jen Tanglin, he nodded his head vigorously without any hesitation!
