They may say that age is just a number but aging is real and inevitable.
Signs of aging, like sagging skin, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone are all visible on my face these days. I have to admit that I’m not the most diligent person ever when it comes to skincare. Even though I cleanse and moisturize my face everyday, and that I do include clay and sheet masks in my beauty routine, but that’s about it. Skincare can only do so much since it is mainly treating the surface layer of the skin.
Non-invasive treatments are popular in Singapore these days and since I’m already in my mid-30s, I decided to try out the ultrasound-based Ultherapy treatment at Sozo Aesthetic Clinic for skin firming.
What is Ultherapy
So you might be asking, what is Ultherapy? Ultherapy is a non-invasive US FDA-Approved treatment that counteracts the effects of skin aging. It triggers your body’s natural collagen production to gradually tighten and lift the skin around the eyebrows, neck and chin. This treatment also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the chest. In a nutshell, it stimulates collagen production deep within your skin and not just on the surface.
Depending on where you are treated, the procedure typically lasts between 30 mins to 2 hours. After the treatment, you will gradually start to see results in 2 – 3 months’ time.
The Ultherapy Treatment
My treatment started with a brief consultation with Dr Justin Boey and Dr Sau Po Yi. They assessed my skin and concluded that it wasn’t that saggy, but it would be a good experience for me to try out the Ultherapy treatment to boost more collagen production and firm up my skin.
The therapist cleansed my skin and applied numbing cream on it. After which, she applied the ultrasound gel to my face and the Ultherapy skin firming and lifting treatment started shortly after.
The Ultherapy machine has a screen which indicates which layer of my skin the doctor was treating and the number of shots which were used. This was amazing as it made the entire treatment transparent to the customers.
When the ultrasound frequencies penetrated into my skin, I felt like there was a sharp pen constantly poking on my face, just much much deeper. It was a pretty weird sensation but I know that it will definitely be working its magic. During the same session, I also tried HIFU, which was less intense than Ultherapy.
The entire treatment took almost an hour and before I knew it, it was done! Thankfully, there wasn’t any downtime at all. My sensitive skin didn’t appear as red as I thought it would be (thank god!) and I could still head off to another event with my friends after reapplying my makeup. No one could tell that I just went for an aesthetic treatment!
Typically, an Ultherapy treatment in Singapore would set you back from S$2,000/session, which is dependent on the treatment area that you are going for. The number of shots required will be declared right at the beginning so that there are no hidden costs. To find out more, check out the pricing here.
After the Treatment
For the next few days or so, my face felt achy but it was bearable. This is one of the side effects that you will experience after the Ultherapy. The achy sensation went away after a couple of days. I could continue my daily routine as per normal without any disruption.
Not to brag but these days I have people telling me that I don’t look like my age. Is the treatment doing its magic on me? It’s probably still too early to tell but I’m pretty excited about the outcome in 2 to 3 months’ time.
If you are looking for non-invasive treatments with minimal downtime and without going under the knife, do book a consultation with Sozo Aesthetic Clinic to find out more about the treatments and see what suits you best.
