What is a barre workout?
Barre is a hybrid workout that combines ballet moves with elements from Yoga, Pilates, and strength training. It is a full-body workout that focuses on low-impact but high-intensity movements. Small yet targetted movements are done at high repetition to those work muscle groups to tone and strengthen them. It is a great combination of strength training and cardio to help us build muscles and burn fat.
Barre workouts aren’t just for dancers if that is what you are worried about. It is suitable for anyone, even if you have just started to work out. Don’t rush into things and don’t give up when you feel like you are lagging behind. You will usually get the hang of the movements after 3 or 4 sessions. Most importantly, have fun while working out!

Here are some of our favourite barre workout videos that you can try in the comfort of your home. Of course, you may need to join a class so that the instructor can correct your form and posture. Since staying home is encouraged during this COVID-19 period, we can always try the workout with these YouTube videos first before heading out for classes when things get better.
