Cardi B has taken her place on the billboard of The Musée du Louvre for Balenciaga. Yes, you heard that right! You could say that she’s officially a historic monument. It’s Creative Director Demna Gvasalia’s first use of a celebrity in a campaign since taking the helm in 2015 (he’s largely casted friends and lesser-known models) and Cardi B’s first time starring in a campaign for a major fashion brand.
The campaign was self-styled and self-produced during lockdown by the brand’s frequent collaborators. Gvasalia himself selected Cardi B’s look — a liquid-y black evening gown with an asymmetric neckline, built-in gloves, and, of course, shoes that look like socks to match. It’s all topped with a sharp and shiny bob.
For all you diehard Cardi B fans, this video will be no stranger to you:
Now I like dollars, I like diamonds
I like stuntin’, I like shinin’ (Yeah)
I like million dollar deals
Where’s my pen? Bitch I’m signin’ (Signin’)
I like those Balenciagas (Those)
The ones that look like socks
I like going to the jeweler
I put rocks all in my watch (Cha-ching)
Her love for Balenciaga was explicitly mentioned 2 years ago (*gasp* how could we have missed this earlier?!), in her MV that’s full of all that girl boss energy.
You’re definitely slayin’, Cardi B!
