I was displeased with my jawline and flat nose bridge and wanted to get it fixed! So I visited Halley Medical Aesthetics and I was warmly welcomed by the staff there! At Halley, I consulted Dr. Mark Lim, who patiently went through my concerns and proposed some solutions for them!
During the consultation, he advised me to have some nose fillers to give the volume that my nose bridge was lacking. In addition, for my jawline, he proposed some Botox to be done to give me a slimmer silhouette and reduce my jaw muscles! Lastly, he suggested some fillers for my chin, to balance out my face and give it a nice definition both front and back!
Dr. Mark also very helpfully answered some of the questions I had about hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, which he had suggested to give more height to my lacking nose bridge. I was worried about the injection process of the filler, but Dr. Mark explained that to minimise the number of injection points and bruising, he will be using a micro-cannula instead and there will only be one injection point on the nose tip. That is different from using a needle as a needle would require multiple injection points on the nose and increases the chances of bruising.
These are the filler (Juvederm Volux), Botox, and micro-cannula used for my treatment!
HA fillers are made up of natural compounds found in our skin, so it is safe for most people. The results are also instantaneous, which is great because the doctor will be able to assess the effects immediately and discuss or advise if you need additional fillers or if they are already enough to achieve the look you want. The HA filler used for the sculpting of my nose and chin is Juvederm Volux, which is a firmer and highly mouldable type of filler.
Botox was prescribed for my jawline as I shared with Dr. Mark that I wanted a more V-shaped face and slimmer jawline. What Botox does is relax our muscles, and for jaw slimming, it achieves that by relaxing the masseter muscles.
Before the procedure, he applied numbing cream on the targeted areas and the process was a breeze! While I have a high pain threshold, I have to say the procedure was so comfortable it wouldn’t really matter anyway. Besides, the numbing cream and application of ice packs should put you at ease if you are worried about it! Juvederm Volux also has lidocaine, a type of local anaesthetic, in it, so the discomfort level is really at a minimum.
Some photos from the treatment process:
Before beginning on the treatment, Dr. Mark first drew on some markings on my face to determine the injection points for optimal results. The entire procedure with the markings took about 30 mins but the results for fillers can last up to more than a year, while Botox results can last up to four months!
Right after the treatment, Dr. Mark showed me the Before and After photos. Look at how defined my nose bridge is! My chin also looks more projected for the V-shaped look!
I was already very pleased with my results but Dr. Mark advised that the Botox results would show better in about a week or so, hence we also set my treatment review for two weeks after!
When I returned to Halley Medical Aesthetics for my review with Dr. Mark, the Botox effects are already rather prominent, as I even got comments that my face seemed slimmer! Let’s take a look at my photos from before the treatment vs the ones taken two weeks after:
The fillers in my nose and chin have settled very nicely, and look very natural as well. Thanks to the slimming effect on my jawline from the Botox, my face looks more balanced and V-shaped!
I’m glad I chose Halley Medical Aesthetics as I felt very safe in the hands of the good and experienced doctors there! If you’re keen on correcting any particular area, do book an appointment for a consultation and see what the doctors recommend!
