The former singer, actor and lothario (just a lothario these days) has been disqualified from a Hong Kong marathon he competed in on February 5.
He did the time (three hours, 55 minutes, 46 seconds) but his crime was switching competitor numbers.
Apparently he didn’t like the one he was given (A5716) and swapped it for A5654. It confused the organizers and irritated other competitors, who complained, so he was disqualified.
“We do not recognise his result and will not issue any certificate to him,” the organizers said.
Edison had been running for charity and raised HK$2 million ($257,928). Arguably it could be taken away. So all that effort (Nike paid for a personal trainer and masseur for five months) has gone to waste.
Way to go Edison.
