Do you often find yourself complaining of your round face shape or are you constantly envying other girls with palm-size face with defined jaw lines? It is so common with plastic surgeries nowadays and targeting chin areas is not new too. Before you jump the gun, do note of the differences between chin implants and chin fillers, so as to provide a better solution and allows a more informed decision of getting either one.
Chin implants which is also known as chin augmentation uses surgical implants to alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features.
An implant — which is made either of solid silicone or a porous biocompatible material, such as Medpor — is used to achieve the desired effect. This operation is often, but not always, performed at the time of rhinoplasty to help balance the facial proportions.
Chin augmentation may be achieved by manipulation of the jaw bone (mandible) and augmentation utilizing this technique usually provides a more dramatic correction than with the use of prosthetic implants. This plastic surgery is especially for those having problems with their jaw structure, for example, an under-bite, over-bite or cross-bite problems.

However, chin fillers do not involve any surgery, incisions or downtime. They are aesthetic treatments and not plastic surgeries. These fillers are used to restore facial volume, which is lost due to ageing; this in turn helps to prevent sagging effect of the cheeks. Using very fine needles to deliver the filler precisely to an area on your face, which needs that extra volume, the pain of the injection is also very minimal.
Hyaluronic acid, commonly used filler, is a natural compound, which is naturally occurs in and under our skin. Fillers are composed of synthetic hyaluronic acid, which the body is able to metabolise and absorb, and hence is very compatible with our body.
For more complicated issues like jaw structure problems, it is only logical that it can be solved by surgeries and not aesthetic treatments and that more pain and slower recovery time is involved.
