Do I Still Need Sunscreen Now That I'm Always at Home?

Raise your hands if you have been skipping sunscreen because you are not stepping out much, and have been staying at home all the time to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Do You Need Sunscreen Indoors

Me, I am totally guilty of that. I mean, since we no longer have to face those environmental aggressors now that we are in our safe haven called home, we can change our skincare routines a little, no? Not applying sunscreen since we are not exposed to direct sunlight sounds totally logical to me too.

However, that turned out to be one big beauty mistake. Let's set the record straight once and for all.

Our glass windows can block out UVB rays but do allow UVA rays to penetrate. UVA rays are the exact culprits for fine lines, wrinkles, and skin pigmentation, so if you want to avoid premature skin aging, it is advisable to slather on some sunscreen even if you are staying indoors.

On top of that, we are spending a lot of time on our computers, mobile phones, and television, and the blue light that these devices emit can also cause premature skin aging, and weaken our skin structure. And that is the reason why in recent years, there are so many skincare brands launching sunscreens that block out blue light.

While it may be tempting to skip sunscreen altogether, it is only wise to still apply and reapply sunscreen every two to three hours just like how you did it when we were still out and about.
