It's been three months after my last round of CoolSculpting treatment and I went to see Dr. Terence Tan at Halley Body Slimming Clinic for my final CoolSculpting review
By now, I have completed a total of three treatments of CoolSculpting with Dr. Terence Tan in the following timeline (click on the links to see what each treatment was like!) :
Here are my final review results:
- fat % has decreased
- visceral fat has decreased from 3 to 2
- my waistline has increased by 2cm, but it has dropped 9cm since I started CoolSculpting
I believe that the increase in waist measurement is likely from pre-menstrual bloating, because I got my period the next day, but other than that, I am really happy with the results.
Before and after
My level of satisfaction with my body has increased tremendously after CoolSculpting. I have a nice waistline now and it is effortless to maintain – I can go about my daily life as usual, enjoying my favourite food without worries.
Of course, I could be toned if I put in the effort to exercise but, other than the occasional morning run, I had intentionally refrained from training or exercising to fully understand what CoolSculpting can do for me.
We’re probably at the end of my CoolSculpting treatments, because I feel that I’m contented with what we have achieved. I feel lighter and I like the proportion of my body right now, which was the reason why I even embarked on this treatment to begin with.
If you have body slimming needs, I can definitely confirm that CoolSculpting is an investment that pays off. There are many fat freezing treatments available in Singapore now but my personal experience is that a good body slimming clinic with doctors and clinic staff that are specially trained in CoolSculpting will make your treatment more comfortable while ensuring real results.

"As we age, no matter how much moisturizers we put on our face, it just doesn't absorb well."
Ever since I turned 40, my used-to-be oily skin became extremely dry. There were mornings when I woke up with my face so dry that it felt flaky. I tried to apply more moisturizers but they either gave me breakouts or only worked for a day or two. The dryness didn't seem to go away. So when Dr Justin was telling me how Profhilo is a very popular treatment among women of my age in Singapore, I could totally understand why.
Profhilo is the first BDDE-free injectable Hyaluronic Acid that hydrates skin and treats skin laxity. Some people call it 'injectable hydration' because that's what it essentially does - Injecting hydration directly into your skin where it's required. Everyone knows how important hydration is for our skin, regardless of our age, but for women around my age, it's even more crucial.
I was initially concerned that the procedure would be painful but I was quickly assured that it would be very bearable. In fact, there was not even a need for numbing gel to be applied, unlike for other injection cosmetic procedures. Very fine needles are used for the injections and only 10 injection points are required (5 on each side of the face). Ice packs were used to numb my skin before the injections took place, so as to minimize any discomfort I might feel.
Fast & No Downtime
To my surprise, the entire procedure was over and done with within 5 minutes! That was how fast and fuss-free it was. True enough, there was virtually no pain - The injections felt like ant bites, if anything. It's no wonder this is a popular procedure among the office ladies during lunch time, because there was practically no down-time at all. I was told that I might experience some swelling that resembles pimples in the injection areas, but they were so mild that I didn't really notice them at all.
With one of the highest concentrations of HA in the market (64mg/2cc), the stabilised HA lasts in the skin for about 28 days. Profhilo works because of 2 types of hyaluronic acid: L-HA and H-HA. This hybrid of HA allows hyaluronic acid to be released slowly and lasts longer, allowing bioremodeling to take place. It is a procedure that works for me perfectly because it provides the hydration my skin requires, and lift up areas that may have started to sag due to age. I thought Dr Justin was joking when he said that many people are "addicted" to the procedure once they've tried it, but I totally get it now! The whole procedure was so fast and I could see results almost immediately.
Over the next few days, I realised that my skin was indeed a lot more hydrated than before. I didn't wake up with dry skin anymore - In fact, the skin on my face felt elastic and very hydrated. My makeup stayed longer through the day and the skin looked a lot healthier and younger than before. I don't think I've seen my skin this healthy in years!
Would I recommend Profhilo? I totally would. I've tried and tested it, and I am amazed at how effective it is. I'm grateful to Dr Justin Boey for making the whole procedure so quick and comfortable for me, and for clearly explaining how Profhilo works and would benefit my skin. The cost of the procedure is $2000 for 2 treatment sessions (each treatment session is 1 syringe of Profhilo- 2ml), and the protocol is 1-3 treatment sessions, spaced out in monthly intervals, depending on your skin condition. If you have any skin concerns, or just wish to find out more about getting Profhilo in Singapore, do contact Sozo Aesthetic Clinic for a consultation. It might be the skin solution that you have been searching for the longest time.

We are all practising social distancing to flatten the COVID-19 curve and heading out to nail salons to get our manicures done isn't exactly the best option right now.
However, we can still keep our nails looking pretty even when we are staying at home because it really isn't that hard to DIY. Painting our nails in our favourite shades shouldn't be an issue (well, to most of us at least) but if you are stuck with gel polish on your nails, they aren't the easiest to remove without visiting a salon. Peeling your gel nail polish off is a big no no too, because that will remove layers of your nail together with it and weaken your nails.
It's not all gone case, though. Follow these steps to safely remove your gel nail polish in the comfort of your home.
1. Protect your hands
Before you touch all the chemicals, apply some moisturiser of cuticle oil on your hands to shield your skin.
2. File off the top layer
You shouldn't be filing off all your nail polish but just the top layer of your gel nail polish.
3. Acetone treatment
You need a bottle of 100% pure acetone to bade your gel nail polish goodbye and you can easily purchase them online. We did the footwork for you and found one that on Shopee that has got very good reviews here. That said, remember to find a well-ventilated space before getting started so that you are not breathing in all the acetone.
Soak cotton balls or cotton pads in your acetone solution, and place the soaked cotton on your nails, and wrap them with aluminium foil. Wait for 15 minutes.
4. Rub gently with the soaked cotton
Gently rub the soaked cotton onto your gel nail polish to remove as much of them as possible.
5. Remove the residue

Once you are done, put on a new coat of happy colour and remember to moisturise your hands!

Ageing gracefully is a mantra my mum abides by. She’s currently in her 60s, and while I have to agree she looks younger than her age, gravity has inevitably taken its toll.
Most of you are probably familiar with the use of fillers to plump up your skin, but did you know that there’s a new treatment called Profhilo that acts via a new process, the actual bio-modelling of collagen and elastin structures in the skin, to restore your youth? When I first heard about Profhilo treatment from my most trusted celebrity doctor, Dr Gerard Ee from The Clifford Clinic, I knew my mum would be excited to try it.
What is Profhilo?
Profhilo is a 100% pure Hyaluronic Acid based, chemical stabilizer-free product used for the treatment of ageing and sagging skin. Our skin is made up of three layers, namely the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Collagen and elastin, also known as the support structures, are found in our dermis. Collagen and elastin production slow down as we age, and so does the level of hyaluronic acid in our skin. That’s where Profhilo comes in to save the day. The absence of additives in Prohilo also significantly minimises the risks of complications and side effects.
How is Profhilo different from dermal fillers?
That was the first question that crossed my mind, and it turned out that Profhilo is neither considered dermal fillers, nor skin boosters, because it has the combined effects of both.
Although most dermal fillers in the market are made from bio-compatible hyaluronic acid, it is usually less than 100% and may also contain other ingredients that do not have hydrating properties. As Profhilo is made from 100% hyaluronic acid, it is able to deeply hydrate and plump up your skin to achieve a dewy, radiant and youthful appearance. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, are generally administered in specific areas to sculpt the facial structure and boost volume. The recommended age for Profhilo is 40-50 years of age but some patients from the age of 30 have benefitted from it as well.
How does Profhilo achieve biomodelling of the skin?
The high concentration of HA in Profhilo stimulates the fibroblast cells to enhance natural collagen and elastin production in the dermis. The HA complexes provide structure to your skin via a volumetric effect to prevent sagging. It also boosts hydration levels and thus maintains your skin’s elasticity.
Profhilo treatment process
Numbing cream was first applied to 10 key points, also known as Bio Aesthetic Points, of my mum’s face. By administering Profhilo to just 10 key points of the face, the risks related to blood vessels and nerves, which are usually associated with traditional fillers, are hugely minimized. As always, Dr Gerard Ee worked his magic with such swiftness and precision that the procedure was over in a jiffy. My mum experienced some discomfort as this was her virgin aesthetics treatment, but she soon became impervious to it thanks to Dr Ee’s reassuring demeanour.
What is even more amazing is that the treatment has absolutely no downtime. My mum went shopping right after and no one could tell she had anything done. The full results can be seen in a month’s time as Profhilo gradually distributes itself across the different skin layers to restore elasticity and improve hydration for a more youthful-looking appearance. Although results are more evident after 1 month, I could tell that my mum’s face had taken on a glow and appeared fuller just one week after the procedure.
Here is a before and after comparison for your reference:
Before – taken on the day of the procedure (none of us had makeup on by the way):
After – taken one week after the procedure, on the first day of Chinese New Year:
6th March 2020, approximately one month after the treatment. Here’s my mum’s before and after comparison photo. Doesn’t she look at least 5 years younger now?

For the luxury house F/W2020-2021 showcase at Paris Fashion Week, the models strutted down the runway in romantic '70s chic half-up hair in natural loose waves.

Many supermodels have been spotted in that '90s half-up half-down hair in their off-duty looks. However, what Chanel brought us at their F/W2020-2021 show at Paris Fashion Week was a little different. Instead of the sporty and street style half-up hairstyle, the F/W2020 Chanel look was more '70s French chic, completed with loose waves and accessorised with bows and flowers.
Behind the look is British hairstylist Sam McKnight. He mentioned on his Instagram that the hairstyle was "inspired by that French girl in the 70s, soft, loose, flowing volume. With modern wispy waves in homage to the gothic Victoriana of that era." He also added that the waves were created using medium hair irons, and he teased the hair for more volume at the top and back with Easy-Up Do Texture Spray.
We love the hairstyle for its versatility and femininity, not forgetting how easy it is to recreate it. Remember to add a bow, or your favourite hair accessory to make your look more interesting.
Let's take a look at the how the models wore this romantic hairstyle for F/W2020-2021 Chanel runway at Paris Fashion Week.
