My wife has always joked about Charizard (my pet mynah) being as bald as its dad – we both have a bald patch right on top! While Charizard seems oblivious to it, I’m trying to fight the male pattern hair loss that is prevalent in my family tree.
I’ve tried putting on hair tonic (containing Minoxidil, a hair growth chemical) to get the reforestation going. Hair tonic does work, and results can only be seen after 6 months. However, it needs to be used daily for best effect, which has been a challenge to me. The effects also fade away when I stop using the hair tonic, which is somewhat frustrating.
So when I heard about Sozo Aesthetic Clinic’s Regenera Activa® treatment, I decided to give it a go! The treatment involves taking micro-grafts from a small region of the scalp, and injecting it into the areas of hair loss.
You can read more about Sozo Aesthetic Clinic and the Regenera Activa® treatment here: https://sozoclinic.sg/regenera-activa-singapore/.
The resons why I decided to try try Regenera Activa at Sozo Aesthetic Clinic:
1) Fuss-free solution
All it took is just an hour’s visit to the clinic and it’s done! This definitely beats putting on hair tonic daily and I’ll save DAYS in time over the course of one year.
2) Minimal side effects/risks:
No oral or topical medication required. In fact, since the micro-grafts are taken from your own scalp, the chance of your body rejecting the treatment is practically zero.
3) Virtually no down-time:
Right after the one-hour treatment, I helped Qi Yun take some OOTDs and went back to work. Life continues as normal! The doctor advised me not to wash my hair for the next 24 hours and avoid activities that would make me perspire for the next 3-5 days. This is easily achievable.
4) Visible results in one month:
It is expected that I’ll see improved thickness of existing hair and growth of new hair over the next 12 months. It’s only been a week since the treatment, so I’m really eager to see the results in another few weeks! I’ll definitely be making appearances on Instagram, so heads up (pun intended)!
5) Long lasting results
The latest follow-up research from Europe shows that 1 treatment of Regenera Activa® may have results lasting up to 3 years. Sozo Aesthetics Clinic recommends 1 treatment session a year for maintenance. Either way, I think it’s incredible for a treatment that takes only one hour.
Prior to the treatment session, I felt somewhat apprehensive. After all, it’s not every day that you’ll get a micro-graft taken from your scalp.
My appointment was set at 10.30am on a weekday morning, and Sozo Aesthetics Clinic was located at One Raffles Place, just above Raffles MRT. With rush-hour traffic long gone and the easy clinic access, getting there was a breeze.
After completing some administrative procedures, I met Dr Justin Boey, who did a check on my scalp and explained the process of Regenera Activa®. Dr Boey came across as incredibly friendly and down-to-Earth, which was great because I felt comfortable asking a bunch of questions about the procedure. He specialises in personalised treatments with minimal down-time at Sozo Aesthetics Clinic and has a slew of credentials/achievements that makes me wonder what I’ve been doing with my life.
Needless to say, I felt safe knowing that he will be the one handling the procedure.
A nurse helped to swab my scalp in preparation for the treatment. This ensured that my scalp is clean and ready for the next step.
The next step of the procedure was to inject anaesthesia around the region where the micro-graft was taken. For me, it’s a small area behind my left ear. Three micro-grafts were then taken in a pain-free manner. I didn’t feel a thing and had to rely on Dr Boey to alert me when the micro-grafts were taken.
Next, a special machine was used to prepare the micro-grafts for injection into the areas of hair loss on my scalp. Considering the wide bald area, the injection process was really quick and almost painless (just small needle pricks, and a vibrating tool was used to help distract me from the needle pricks).
Once that was over, the nurse massaged my scalp and placed a small plaster to cover the area where the micro-graft was taken.
And that was it! The entire process was really smooth and quick, and it surprisingly felt like a non-event, as though I was going out for a meal. The Regenera Activa® treatment by Sozo Aesthetic Clinic is one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to both males and females looking for an effective, fuss-free solution to reduce hair loss, increase hair growth, and get thicker and stronger hair.
Regenera Activa Price in Singapore
Compared to other hair loss solutions, such as Hair Transplants (~$10,000 per session) and Herbal hair treatments (from $5000/year), Sozo Aesthetic Clinic’s Regenera Activa® treatment is at a much more cost-effective range of $3,000. Did I mention that it’s also incredibly fuss-free?

They may say that age is just a number but aging is real and inevitable.
Signs of aging, like sagging skin, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone are all visible on my face these days. I have to admit that I’m not the most diligent person ever when it comes to skincare. Even though I cleanse and moisturize my face everyday, and that I do include clay and sheet masks in my beauty routine, but that’s about it. Skincare can only do so much since it is mainly treating the surface layer of the skin.
Non-invasive treatments are popular in Singapore these days and since I’m already in my mid-30s, I decided to try out the ultrasound-based Ultherapy treatment at Sozo Aesthetic Clinic for skin firming.
What is Ultherapy
So you might be asking, what is Ultherapy? Ultherapy is a non-invasive US FDA-Approved treatment that counteracts the effects of skin aging. It triggers your body’s natural collagen production to gradually tighten and lift the skin around the eyebrows, neck and chin. This treatment also improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the chest. In a nutshell, it stimulates collagen production deep within your skin and not just on the surface.
Depending on where you are treated, the procedure typically lasts between 30 mins to 2 hours. After the treatment, you will gradually start to see results in 2 – 3 months’ time.
The Ultherapy Treatment
My treatment started with a brief consultation with Dr Justin Boey and Dr Sau Po Yi. They assessed my skin and concluded that it wasn't that saggy, but it would be a good experience for me to try out the Ultherapy treatment to boost more collagen production and firm up my skin.
The therapist cleansed my skin and applied numbing cream on it. After which, she applied the ultrasound gel to my face and the Ultherapy skin firming and lifting treatment started shortly after.
The Ultherapy machine has a screen which indicates which layer of my skin the doctor was treating and the number of shots which were used. This was amazing as it made the entire treatment transparent to the customers.
When the ultrasound frequencies penetrated into my skin, I felt like there was a sharp pen constantly poking on my face, just much much deeper. It was a pretty weird sensation but I know that it will definitely be working its magic. During the same session, I also tried HIFU, which was less intense than Ultherapy.
The entire treatment took almost an hour and before I knew it, it was done! Thankfully, there wasn’t any downtime at all. My sensitive skin didn’t appear as red as I thought it would be (thank god!) and I could still head off to another event with my friends after reapplying my makeup. No one could tell that I just went for an aesthetic treatment!
Typically, an Ultherapy treatment in Singapore would set you back from S$2,000/session, which is dependent on the treatment area that you are going for. The number of shots required will be declared right at the beginning so that there are no hidden costs. To find out more, check out the pricing here.
After the Treatment
For the next few days or so, my face felt achy but it was bearable. This is one of the side effects that you will experience after the Ultherapy. The achy sensation went away after a couple of days. I could continue my daily routine as per normal without any disruption.
Not to brag but these days I have people telling me that I don’t look like my age. Is the treatment doing its magic on me? It’s probably still too early to tell but I’m pretty excited about the outcome in 2 to 3 months’ time.
If you are looking for non-invasive treatments with minimal downtime and without going under the knife, do book a consultation with Sozo Aesthetic Clinic to find out more about the treatments and see what suits you best.

Picture this scenario: You raised your hands to grab the handlebars on the bus, only to be embarrassed by the smell, and how dark they are.
No, that is definitely not something that we want to be remembered for. And when we were in Seoul, we discovered a very interesting product from BCOMMONCE that helps us solve our armpit issues!
BCOMMONCE carries a range of beauty products that are very interesting, and definitely unlike all the K-beauty products that you have seen. On top of the Armpit Deo BB Puff that acts as an antiperspirant, deodorant, and BB cream for your armpits, they also have a Foot Smell Clean Mist, and even a BBOOM BBOOM Toilet Perfume.
Find out more about their products in the interview below.

OCARU - Peel and rejuvenation skincare solution
Some of OCARU's best sellers include their 3 lines of ampoules (Cell Repair, Purifying Fluid, Moisturing Fluid), and their star product the OCARU Peel Mask.
The OCARU Peel Mask contains micron silitox needles in the solution to enhance its skin rejuvenation effect. The microneedles penetrate the skin to deliver all the nutrients directly into the skin and to stimulate collagen production. We tried the Peel Mask at the exhibition and it felt like little pricks on the skin and the pain factor was close to a zero, I would say. After using the Peel Mask, apply any of the 3 OCARU ampoules depending on your skin needs for maximum efficiency.
